AFNI Collections - FRAUDULENT COMPANY! Tried to rip my husband off for a bill that he never had! Bloomington Illinois / Concord California
AFNI Collections sent a letter addressed to my husband, stating that he owed AT&T (formerly Bellsouth) for a bill in the amount of $83.79 and that they were willing to settle the alleged account for half of that amount. When I did further investigating, including going to their website where I noticed that they only wanted personal information to pay the "debt" and would not provide further information on the account, I quickly realized that the company was a fraud and that they were simply trying to scam my husband out of money and get his personal information.
I went to At&t/Bellsouth's website and entered in the alleged account number that they included in the letter they sent him and At&t said that there was no account under that number. I decided to contact the Better Business Bureau to let them know that this company is fraudulent and that further action should be taken against them so that they do not scam honest people out of their money. I also plan to contact the State attorney generals office to inform them of the scam.I also downloaded a sample letter that someone else posted up here. I plan on sending that letter to see how they respond as well.
