DO NOT settle just to get them off your back...if you do they'll come back for more money Send a letter via Certified Mail + Return Receipt to AFNI stating: Per the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, I am requesting written validation of this alleged debt, which includes: - a copy of the original signed contract with my signature for this phone account - validation of the original "Date of Delinquency" for this alleged debt - validation of the "Date of Last Activity" for this alleged debt I am requesting proof that I am indeed the party you are asking to pay this debt, and there is some contractual obligation which is binding on me to pay this debt. Be advised that validation is not a request for verification or proof of my mailing address but proper, complete and competent evidence that I have any legal obligation to pay you. Either validate this alleged debt within the 30 day time period as allowed under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act or remove it from my credit files If this notation is not removed, I will have no choice by to take legal action per my rights under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. I also file reports with the Attorney General of Illinois and the BBB. ============================== If this process fails, file complaints with the Attorney General of Illinois...the Central Illinois BBB. If this process fails, sue them for Fair Credit Reporting Act violations.
