Complaint Review: Air 1 Moving & Storage - North Hollywood California

      Air 1 Moving & Storage is the company that I hired to move us from our old residence to our new residence.  This is the first time ever using a moving company in my life, and will be the last, that's for sure.

     It's emotional and unbearing of what happened to us during our move.  Three movers showed up to our residence to move our furniture and were immediatley told that they would only be moving furniture and already packed boxes, which is what we wanted.  We were specifically told no loose items would be carried out or especially touched or handled. 

     The movers were: Uvaldo Gamiz-Avalos, Alejandro Hernandez, and Richard Guertin.  We didn't know their names until after we called the police.  Two of the movers called Uvaldo the foreman, who doesn't even have a CDL and was the driver of the moving truck.  We found all of this later with the police at the new residence.

     They moved furniture for us and before we knew it, we were out of room in the truck.  Before we were ready to leave, Uvaldo...the foreman was in a hurry to leave.  I asked him to follow us to the new residence.  He said they would be driving slow so they would meet us there.  He was acting very strange.  He left in a hurry.

     I went to grab my handbag and the envelope that had all of my money, $2900 in cash, was gone.  It was a gift from my mother-in-law to us for our new home.  I couldn't believe it!  I was looking frantically over and over in my handbag for it and it was gone.  It was in there a half hour before we left because I saw it there.  The foreman was the only person in the vicinity of my handbag. 

     Then I went to check the bedrooms before I ran out to catch up to the movers and my daughter's money was missing from her piggy bank, $302. including a $2.00 bill.  I called the police to meet us at my new residence, then I called my family who were waiting there and told them what happened so they can stop the movers when they arrived. 

     The police caught up with the movers and asked them to empty their pockets.  The foreman had over $8000 in his pocket rolled up, including a $2.00 bill.  We couldn't believe it!  He first lied to the officer and said he didn't have anything then revealed the money.  He was handcuffed and questioned.  The movers were told to unload everything at once.  They did and were in such a hurry to get out of there because of what happened.  I had to file the police report and that was it. 

     I would not pay, especially after what had just happened, plus they stole all my money.  When we called the company, all they said was the owner, Nir Ben-David wasn't available until Monday.  I spoke to Serg, who is the rep that set up my appt from the beginning.  

     When I called on Monday telling him what happened, he didn't care one bit.  It was like he was used to people filing complaints against his company.  All he said was he would look into.  I never heard back from him again.  This was almost 2 months ago.  I was told to file a complaint with their claims dept.  They didn't care and decided to close the claim as settled when it wasn't.  Even after I provided the police report and they were paid for their services. 

     These people are fraudulent and have so many complaints against them they should be shut down.  I would have never hired them knowing that the foreman, Uvaldo, is undocumented.  All he showed as identification was a mexican ID.  He shouldn't have even been driving.  The truck was ready to break down and shouldn't have been on the street period!!!!  All I wanted was to be compensated, but now it's turned into something even bigger.  The owner is even ignoring my demand for payment letter before court, so he must be used to going to court as well or having lawsuits against them.  They don't even provide their insurance information or general liability information because the owner, Nir Ben-David hires undocumented immigrants to he can pay them under the table and not pay taxes.  That will catch up to him very fast, especially when it's reported to the IRS and he's audited. 

    Don't ever, ever use this company, Air 1 Moving & Storage!  They are the worst people to do business with.  They are evil money taking perpetrators.
