AIU Online - Unsettling Admission Process ripoff Hoffman Estates Illinois
Just withdrew from AIU, barely cancelled my loans in time! I started questioning why my transcripts weren't reviewed before starting - never even got to the point of having an "Academic Advisor".
I decided to investigate online to look for complaints, etc. and found this site. After reading some of the rebuttels to negative postings about accreditation and such, I found the http://www.saccoc.org site (bullet three on the home page) where indeed AIU and all it's entities are on probation for a number of infractions.
I was steamed that I was not informed of this status from AIU that I called my lenders directly and cancelled all loans and then called AIU and withdrew. Once they saw I had already cut off the money - they didn't give me much flack.
My sympathy to those who will learn the hard way. I'm currently enrolling in my community college even if it takes me three times the time to complete my goal. The people I dealt with were helpful, but apparently not forthcoming about their situation - so, a consumer can only assume the worst.
