I placed an order for a book called Environmental Geography Edition 9.  It clearly showed the photo of Edition 9 and after I paid for it, on my final confirmation it stated it was Edition 6.  I immediately did the ichat on the Alibris website and asked to cancel immediately.  I was told to contact the seller from her.  They also said they could not tell what edition it was.  Because originally it stated 9th edition showing the 9th edition photo.  I did this all within 15 minutes.  I made several emails to the seller, but naturally they ignored me.  Naturally Alibris who captured my paypal money immediately pushed the blame to the seller to cancel.  I am livid that there is no live person that can help, and only automated messages.  I feel this bait and switch is poor business.  Plus to mention the fact that I immediately inturn contacted the seller, and no response.  So this tells me that they enjoy bait and switch games and collect money under false pretenses with their  books.  Buy your books somewhere else.  This vendor can not be trusted.  Poor communication to buyers.  Extremely poor customer service.

They have recently edited their website to reflect now that the photo may not be accurate.  Amazing their website staff won't put an accurate photo and puts wrong photos of books.

The seller is bnctucsonbooks.

I am open to be added to any legal pursuits against this firm on their illegal business tactics.

Now, after quite a horrible experience, after you said the book had been cancelled, my money refunded.  Today now on 18 Jan 2013, the book is here in the mail.   So what part of your canceling the book and contacting the buyer after 5 minutes after order was placed and your IChat Alibris rep sent to cancel and the emails from your company said it was cancelled.  So why does your buyer still ship this book.  Now I have to go out of my way to pay and ship it back also to not mention the fact I have to drive it to the post office and waste more time and more money.   I don't think your company is in fact competent and know what each other is doing.  I believe I am right.  You may sound like you go out of your way, but this book should never had been shipped.  I want it returned immediately.  Mrs W.

I'm sorry for the trouble this buyer experienced. If the buyer would like to contact me directly, I encourage them to do so by sending an email to [email protected] with "Attn: Amy" in the subject line so the message will be routed to me.

I would like to clear up a few points. We're not trying to list our sellers books in a deceptive way.  All search results will show a "Catalog level" description including a stock image. Beneath the listing's cover image is a disclaimer that states: "Cover may not depict edition offered for sale."

When searching for a specific edition of a textbook for a class, it's best to search by the ISBN number to help you get the most accurate search results for the desired edition.

Alibris operates an online marketplace to help buyers connect with independent booksellers. We're here to make this a smooth easy transaction, but there will be times when a buyer needs information only the seller of that item has, for example, edition specifics or cancelation/stop shipment requests.

I welcome this buyer and anyone else who needs assistance to contact me as directed above. We're here to help!
