Complaint Review: All American discount tire and muffler - Lakeland Florida

DEAR  TWRIGHT,

                         In response to your first complaint about pulling the wrong tire off,  the manager might've told the mechanic the wrong info,  or misunderstood you.

    Now the part with the order fair,  we have referenced the part number with the vehicle through multiple sites and that is the correct filter for that vehicle.

     Next when you first called and told us about this we recommend you stop driving the vehicle we also offered to pay to have the vehicle towed here.  You said you couldn't do that it would see about driving and we recommended not to.  The next time we would hear from you would be about two weeks later.

      When you see oil  pouring you should automatically stop driving the vehicle not continue for miles.  We have been in business for 32 years we also have an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau.

 In November of 2014 Drivers side of vehicle had a nail in sidewall that could not be repaired. So we decided to use All American Discount Tire to replace tire because they were $30.00 cheaper than anywhere else. Also we decided to get an oil change. As I was sitting in waiting room, mechanic calls me out to the shop.  He took me to back passenger side tire and proceeded to tell me my rear-end was bad. At that point and time I asked why do you have this tire off and he stated " we are changing it." I told him "Wrong Side" it's the tire with the nail sticking out of the sidewall on the drivers side.  Should have left right then, after they made the first mistake.

While coming home from working in FT. Meade. I started smelling a strong odor of oil. When I returned home, I looked underneath the car and the entire chassis was covered with oil. I then checked dip stick and no oil was on it. I wiped all the oil off underneath the vehicle, put a quart of oil in it and then I started the vehicle to find the leak. I observed a river of oil coming from oil filter. The oil filter was touching a bracket on the engine, which caused it to split. I then drove to Midas to get oil change. The mechanic there told me I had maybe a quart and half of oil in the engine. Then I took oil filter back to All American discount tire and explained to them they put the wrong oil filter on and I wanted my money back. Which they did refund on 12/17/14. On 1/25/15 sitting at stop light smoke started coming from under the hood. I went back home looked under car and oil is coming from the head. I had car towed to a mechanic and he informed me that not only is the head bad but there is damage to the bottom end of the engine. Which is due to lack of oil.

I then called All American discount tire and muffler to try to resolve this issue. They asked me to send a fax from mechanic on repair cost. Which is 2800 dollars. They told me they would have the owner call. Which she did after being persistant!! Then she stated that they have to find out which mechanic is at fault. Then I told her it was the young long haired guy that did it. 3 weeks later still with no vehicle, they called and told me that there is nothing they can do for me. so I am taking further action!!!. Any shade tree mechanic should have known if the oil filter is touching any part of the engine it is going to split and cause engine damage. Lack of lubrication is the number one cause of engine damage. That was the first thing I learned in Auto Mechanic school. Never go to All American Discount Tire and Muffler Lakeland, FL.
