After completing the paperwork for a 2004 Ford Explorer one of the salesmen were going to put gas in the vehicle for me and noticed that the headlights did not work. After further investigation he found that the wiring harness for the headlights had been cut. The Salesman (Eric) that actually sold me the car was complaining about being late to take his girlfriend out. I was frustrated and disappointed and so was Eric.

He originally wanted me to just come back on Monday since it was so late on a Saturday. I reminded him that I live over Three hours away and just told him that we could just terminate the deal on the truck. Eric did not want me to get my down payment back but he said he could not have another car off the lot with out having the papers done on it. He printed up the paper on a 2006 Magnum and told me to hold the papers for both cars cause we knew that I was getting the Explorer. He said to take the Magnum and that the problem with the headlights on the Explorer will be fixed by Wednesday.

I called on that Tuesday to check the progress on the Explorer. Eric asked me why don't I consider the Magnum. I told him that I didnt want the Magnum I wanted the Explorer. Also that the Magnum was Smoking when it cranked up. Eric sounded like he got upset and said that the Explorer may cost too much for them to fix. He also said that if I didn't want the Magnum that I needed to bring it back to keep the miles down . I brought it back and they put me in an old Ford Sport Trac and told me they will have a truck for me the following week.

When I came back the following week they had a Durango. I test drove it and when I came back from the test drive and said I wanted the Durango they said it was sold. The owner said they will have another Durango on Tuesday. I headed back to Albany I told the owner (Gregg) that I can't afford to keep driving back and forth and it was costing me almost two hundred dollars and I was coming back and forth every week.

About thirty minutes after I left on my way back down to Albany Gregg called me and told me that the Durango was at the other dealership and would I go up and get it. I told him that I was late for work and if I did go to the other dealership he would have to promise to buy the gas and he said he would. When I made it to the other dealership (Elite Motors) The Durango I went to pick up would not start they said ithere was a problem with the aftermarket alarm. That was a trip for nothing. I went back home to Albany in that Sport Trac.

Greg called me the following week and told me that the Durango was ready for me to pick up. The Salesman called me back and reminded me that by then I had a pick-up payment. I asked him how was I making a pick-up payment on a car that I will never own and have not driventhe other Durango. He said we will deal with that when I get there.

When I got there the other Durango had finally been brought to the dealership. When I got there and drove the Durango I said I would take it. There was an additional three thousand dollars added on. I told them that I could not afford that.He then showed me a Pontiac G6. I told him (Gregg) that I would take the Pontiac if he changed the oil, since the change oil light was on. He got upset an said he would not change the oil and I told him that I didnt want to buy a vehicle that I have to change the oil and that he could atleast do that for as much as I have been up and down the road. I guess he was being sarcastic and said that if I drove back next week he would change the oil. I told him that did not make sense for me to buy almos two hundred dollars to get a twenty dollar oil change. They both (Gregg and Eric) were very upset. Gregg came out of his office and gave me five hundred dollars and left me to get back to Albany the best way I can.

I was in shock that my family and I was over three hours away from home with no way to get there. When I got home I thought about the gas money that Gregg promised to pay me, he must have forgot. I made several attempts by phone and internet to no avail. Even I never get my money back I want to make sure that no one else have to go through the same ordeal.

Hello to all, I would first like to mention that you can only be sold a "lemon" if it is a new, untitled vehicle. There is no such thing as a used vehicle lemon law. This explains the mentality of the person writing the complaint. Mr. Albany GA came to us with severe credit issues. We were able to assist in this matter. We must have been the only one that could help this customer. Why else would he have driven all the way here from Albany. We offer a credit rebuilding program that not only helps people get into a vehicle, but rebuild their credit as well. This particular customer originally came in on the Magnum! That was his vehicle of interest from the start! Once here, He saw the Explorer and fell in love with it. Great! We were willing to accomodate his decision. Once the paperwork was done after hours of indecision on his part, we discovered that someone had broke into the vehicle and cut a bunch of wires. This disabled the headlamps as well. It was late and dark. He could not drive it due to safety reasons. We were all frustrated at this point. I admit it. Who wouldn't be? The customer was never forced to buy anything in the first place. All we did was offer a solution to his problem! He decided on his own that he would just buy the Magnum (the one he came in to buy in the first place). A few days later, he called and said that the vehicle was smoking at start up. We then offered to let him take it to his own mechanic at our expense, or bring it here and we would take it to the Dodge dealership. He opted to bring it here. We gave him a 04 Ford Sport Trac to drive as a courtesy while the Magnum was being inspected by a certified dealer. The dealer could not duplicate the problem or find anything wrong with this vehicle. Mr Albany GA was informed of this and returned to our dealership. I just want to add that our loaner vehicle was absolutely trashed!!! He had smoked in it, ate in it, spilled drinks in it and some how managed to screw up the alignment. Utter disrespect for our property and kindness. At this point we are unable to come to terms on the Magnum. He liked a Durango that we had on the lot. Unfortunately, it was sold to someone else. We then offered to buy him one. Yes, really!! There was a problem with the alarm which the other dealer fixed. Remember folks, we went out of our way to satisfy this customer. The bottom line is that the payment was $24.00 more than the Magnum. The customer said that he would not pay the 80 cent per day difference. He wanted us to absorb the difference. This was not possible. This transaction was already to the point of just doing business (break even), not to mention all the time, energy and heart ache that went into it. Some people are never satisfied with anything you do for them. We take pride in the fact that we go WAY out of our way to help others into a vehicle when nobody else can. Sometimes our efforts are taken for granted. This is unfortunate. Thanks for reading, Eric
