I hired Alliance Law Firm the last week of March 2009 to help me negotiate a loan modification. My house was then, and still is, in foreclosure. I filed BK with another attorney, and that slowed the process down a little. I called Alliance Law Center in April, and my attorney agreed that I should probably send him copies of my loan docs.

They did nothing until June, when my attorney submitted a modification request to my bank. It was denied within a week. He had looked over my loan docs, however, and found about four violations that indicated predatory lending. My original plan when I hired Alliance Law Center was to sue the bank on these grounds, but my attorney said we had to try a loan modification first. OK, so that failed. That attorney stopped working for Alliance Law Center about a week after the bank denied my request, and my case was handed to another attorney.

Attorney #2 told me I didn't have a chance of winning against the bank, that the best I could hope for was suing for damages. He was going to look it over and let me know. As far as I knew at this point, my house was going to be sold on July 17. I called Alliance Law Center again, and was told that there was no sale date scheduled. The following week, a third attorney called me and said the bank is now working with her, and the sale date was put off until September 21.

During this time, I filed a complaint with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency who has jurisdiction over my mortgage lender. I'm still not sure why the bank decided to negotiate again, but I have a feeling that it was due to the OCC getting involved. It couldn't have been out of the goodness of their heart. Anyway, attorney #3 said she would call the bank every 10 days, and then call me to keep me updated. On August 7 she called and said the bank wanted more documentation. It took me about 10 days to fax it back, and then I called and left a message (no one answered the phone) to let the attorney know that I had sent the fax. I also sent an email, since this had been more productive in the past working with this company. I called three times the week of Aug 24, only to get the answering machine. I also sent more emails. I called every day the week of Aug 31, and when I called on Sep 4, I got the message that the phone had been disconnected. I called every number I have for Alliance Law Center, downtown and in RB, and all the phones are disconnected.

I am beyond frustrated, scared, and upset. I feel like I've been taken to the cleaners, first by my lender, and now by the company who I hired to help me. I have no more money with which to hire another attorney, so I guess I'll be trying to work it out with my bank on my own. I already tried that before I hired Alliance Law Center, however, and it did not go well.

I'd love to sue these guys, but I wonder if they can be found now that they've apparently shut their doors. If anybody else is interested in pursuing relief along these lines. please file a report here and I'll find out about it.
