By doing this, you now have proof that you tried to get them to stop harassing you. If they contact you by mail or by phone they broke the law. I went right to Verizon Wireless regarding this and the collection agency. The ladies I spoke with today (26 Oct) were all very helpful and finally put me in touch with the right one. They were all friendly and courteous. Finally, i reached the right deparment and they called Allied Interstate and removed my account from them and apologied for all the hassle and the rude behavior of Allied Interstate. I was also told they would update the credit bureau as well as the person at Allied had been removed from their accounts.

Hi, I too have filed Chapter 7 bankruptcy in the past and I still receive these collection letters. However, I always respond to them with the following: a copy of your discharge letter and a copy of the schedule where the debt is clearly listed. So far, this has worked in every case. Good Luck!
