Allied Interstate-harassing weekly phone calls on non-existent debts; insist on payment through them! Lasts for months! Dallas Texas
Since April 2007 I have been receiving weekly voice mails (computer generated recordings) from Allied Interstate at 1-800-790-0278 saying I have a debt and I need to contact them. When you actually talk to someone and inquire about who and what you owe, they are very discreet, only giving a date, dollar amount, and company requesting the collection. They insist you deal with them directly and not the company seeking payment, which tipped me off immediately, especially since I have never had any debt.
When I told them I would NOT be paying them, I further researched the info provided, finding it trailed back to a Lab used for a Doctor visit I had the previous year. I contacted the office, the Lab mentioned, and the Lab's personal Debt Collection Agencies. All said there was no payment under my name being sought and that if there were I would have a claim/account number and they would have contacted me directly.
Also, the address Allied mentioned on file for me was an address that I lived at almost 2 years prior and that I never listed on any of my medical bills. My office and the lab never had this address in their files.
I have since contacted local news channels about this, submitted letters following The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), and contacted Allied Interstate telling them I would not ever be making a payment and to remove my name and number from their lists.
I do hope something comes of this for others that may be affected, or have been affected. Luckily I had the instinct to research and realize this was a ploy to take advantage of me and my money. But, not everyone has the ability to realize this and many have most likely been scarred financially.
