Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

I recently purchased a vehicle from a person on 4/10/13. After writing a check, the person realised that he could not locate the title, so he applied for a new one from NYS DMV. Amazingly, the title showed up three days later in the mail (impressive for NYS DMV!). Upon looking at the title, I noticed there was a lien on it. The vehicle had actually been paid off two months after the loan was supplied to the person. ALLY BANK failed to mail him a lien release, or notify NYS DMV that the vehicle was paid off, over five years ago. He called ALLY BANK, and was told that the release would be mailed that day.

This was well over a week ago. It DOES NOT take over a week to mail a letter these days; I know, since I do a lot of busines with USPS, UPS and FedEx. There is no excuse for the release not being mailed to him to begin with, nor is there an acceptable reason why NYS DMV was not notified. After reading of many similar issues with ALLY BANK, along with other scary money problems (peoples' accounts being frozen for no reason; inability to get one's money from their account; etc) it is obvious to me that this "bank" is nothing more than a ripoff.

I have lost several thousand dollars in business because of this issue, due to the vehicle being unable to be registered. My next step is to get with the customer, and file a report with the NYS Attorney General, along with the BBB and as many consumer websites as I can find. Ultimately, I will consult with the customer about getting legal representation to file suit against this "bank" I HIGHLY suggest that anyone looking at ALLY BANK as far as loans or bank accounts go, consider another company/bank to go with, as this one will only rip you off and cause you problems.

Having the same problem with this ripoff company. They have my money and wont release the title. I have an electronic title and it just takes a few minutes to release the lein. They have the money, not in my account anymore. Want me to wait 10days before they do anything. They are also rude. I would stay away from these people at all cost.

Also reviewed my extra payments and did not get an intrest payment reduction and charged extra to payoff sooner. The teaser rates they use are not worth giving up real banking personal and a local place to do so. For being a INTERNET company they are really slow to respond to their customers. They are using slick ads to build business and don't care about service. What's a few lost suckers, opps I mean customers anyway.

As far as the customer, he is a family friend, and I fully trust him. He is also in a nursing facility at this point, and can no longer conduct much business on his own. GMAC was renamed Ally bank. They are one in the same. The point of the issue, is that they do not seem to want to own up to, or correct their mistake. Also, they seem to want to take their time in mailing a simple statement. THIS is the kind of problem that plagues the business world of the everyday citizen, and very few people seem to be willing to want to change it, rather than just complaining. I for one, do whatever I can to make companies aware of their customer service shortcomings every time I come across them. When I was growing up, things were different. Companies did whatever they could to keep their customers happy. Nowadays, it seems like the customer is an afterthought. All the company cares about is the dollar in their wallet. This has got to change. The only way for that to happen, is for every customer to speak up every single time they are wronged, or taken advantage of. In this case, it's a simple fact: it DOES NOT take 7-10 days to mail a letter. I know this to be true, as I do a lot of buisness through the USPS, UPS, and FedEx. It takes me (sometimes less) than three days to mail a PACKAGE from Ny to Ca. Therfore, it is obvious to me, that Ally Bank just doesn't care about the needs and wants of it's customers. This may not seem like a big deal to some people, but to myself and others, it is a HUGE issue. As a business owner, I do EVERYTHING in my power to make customers happy, even if it hurts my wallet a little bit. I feel that it is my responsibility as a business owner, to make sure that I have done right by my customer, to the best of my ability. That means getting a job done on time, and taking care of my responsibilities apllied to that job. In this case, Ally's job was to correct a mistake they made, and it was to be done as quickly as possible. In my opinion, that release should have been sent in with over night delivery. Once again, THAT is why I wrote this report. THAT is why I complained and filed reports with the AG, BBB and several other consumer advocate sites. If enough people do this, every time they are wronged, then companies will have no other option, other than to change their ways. Good example: look at Dominoes Pizza. Enough customers complained, and enough customers stopped buying Dominoes product. Dominoes in turn, changed for the better. I can't say their product is the best yet, but they are trying. This is not about a person not being trustworthy selling a vehicle, it is about a major company taking responsibility for their lack of service.

Why do you seem so willing to trust the person you bought the truck from?

First of all why was it only AFTER you wrote the check that he realized he didn't have the title?  Don't you think if someone was going to sell a car that they would make sure they had all of this before?

What proof did this guy have that he paid off the lien two months after he bought it..5 years ago?   This is especially interesting since "Ally" didn't come into existance until 2009(that is 4 years ago).  Previous to that it was GMAC and there is no mention of that.  The reason I mention this is that if he got the vehicle 5 years ago the lean would say GMAC not Ally.

Next, why do you believe him that he called Ally bank and they said they would mail the title that day?

My next step is to get with the customer, and file a report with the NYS Attorney General, along with the BBB and as many consumer websites as I can find.

- No.  The next step is to go back to the guy who you bought the vehicle from and demand your money back because he sold you a car in the first place.  This way you are basically back at square one and like the transaction never took place.  Then let him deal with Ally(if it is truly an error) or to go on and try this with someone else(if it is in fact not an error).
