I took out a loan with Alpine Centers in October of 2014 and made regular payments until February 2015 at which time I fell behind.  as a result of this, I was charged an ungodly amount to catch up.

When I went in on April 24 to pay off the entire balance, they indicated that I must also pay every payment I had missed on top of the payoff.  When I indicated that those payments would be included in the payoff, they argued with me that those late payments would need to be IN ADDITION  to the pay off. So the initial loan for $750 minus two payments of $292.00 and one for $480 turned into a pay off amount of $1077.78. When I asked them for the accounting /amoratization printout so I could see the amount I had already paid them, they indicated that was only available by written permission and it would take  a month to get it.  When I then said I woudl like to pay the entire amount, they indicated that they could not take a payment due to their system being down.

I made two payments of $292 and one of $458 which equals $1042.00.

$750-292=458-292=166-458=-292 By February of 2015 I had already overpaid them by 292 dollars, but the payoff amount was $1077.78.  When I asked them to explain they said this included the balance due of $640 plus late fees of 12 dollars a week, so i volunteered to pay them 2 months (8 weeks of late fees at 12 dollars per week for a total of $96 plus hte balance due of 640 dollars.  But they would not accept this.  They said I still owed $1077.00 but when I mentioned that a balance of 640 plus 96 only equaled $736.00, they argued that I still needed to pay those 3 late payments on top of the balance due....

It just makes no sense to me and I am truly wanting to pay this off and be done with them.  LEsson learned..stay away from Alpine loans/Mountain Loans.
