Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
In March of 2009 I got a fax at work talking about an insurance program that I desperatly needed. I called them and they told me that they could get me insurance coverage not just a discount program but real insurance for just $199 a month with a sign up fee of $125. It sounded to good to be true but I after looking over all of my other choices I agreed. I allowed the to take the money out of my checking account. The next month I had not recieved a card or any information from them I got worried and called them. They assured me that was fine and they would send out another card to me I did get a welcome package that it was supposed to include my insurance card, summary of benifits and a free discount card. I looked at the benifits and it was not what I was told it would be. I called the number on the letter 1-877-378-9240 and could not get through so I called the person that signed me up since I still had his number. He said that there had been an error and that this was only part of the program he said I was inrolled in two different parts this one and an actual insurance program that would adjust the totals down to what he had promised. Being a little weary I did not fill in teh monthly credit card authorization form and continued to try to call the other number. I could not get through. They continued to take money out of my account and I did not want to loose the insurance if it was real so I waited and tried to get someone to talk to me. (I know that was not very smart but hindsight is just that). Anyway at the end of May I finally got someone to talk to me and I told them that I did not have a card that would cover the insurance as promised by the other guy and they said they would send out a new card. (I just got the card yesterday almost a month later.) Anyway I tried to go to the doctor with the phone number they told me to use for claims on the 22nd. My doctor informed me that I had been scammed that he had never heard of them and that I would have to pay in full. I called the (877)-378-9240 number again and told them that I was aware of the scam and that I wanted to cancel and I wanted my money back. They told me to fax a cancelation to 1-909-287-0768 or email a cancelation to [email protected] I could not get into the email so I faxed over a cancelation (which they claim they never recieved). Then on the 23rd after I spoke to them they took another $199 out of my account. They had never done it so early in the month before so I know they did it because I was cancelling. Another note if I had recieved the card that they sent that I got yesterday I would have known well in advance that this was not insurance and would have canceled along time ago so I have to think that they did not send it in order to continue the scam a little longer. I have spoken to them again today 6/30 and they claim that they are processing a refund and I will get it in 13 to 30 business days but they are only refunding the $199 that they just took out. Do not let them get your information they will rip you off!!!

Hotline set up for customers

Chino, CA - February 23, 2010 The Association for Lifestyle Reform  (ALR) recently added a Fraud Investigation Division for customers to contact if they believe they did not purchase what was originally promised by third-party marketers.

ALR is a membership-based organization that provides discounted services to its members, such as pre-paid legal services and discounts on vacations, auto rentals, and prescriptions. As a membership-based association, ALR is able to provide discounts on behalf of its members by obtaining group pricing, including limited supplemental insurance benefits.

ALR engages third-party marketing firms to sell memberships. The company carefully screens the marketing firms it works with and sets and provides guidelines when speaking with potential members; however, there have been instances where independent marketing firms deviated from ALRs guidelines. It is ALRs policy to ensure the security, privacy and satisfaction of its members. To that end, ALR has established a Fraud Investigation Division. The division will take customer complaints regarding the sales process and investigate the issues regarding the marketing firm involved.

We are very excited about being able to offer our product to people, however, some members have experienced an inferior sales process, said Brad Wessler, CEO of Association for Lifestyle Reform. Under no circumstances will we tolerate bad sales practices from the marketing firms we work with. Therefore, we set up a division specifically for this purpose and a toll-free number for our members to call.
