AMBIT ENERGY IS A RIP OFF! ! ! !

Ambit Energy has one of the lousiest customer service departments I have every expreienced. Ambit Energy improperly overbilled us. When calling in to speak with a customer service agent (the first time) to resolve the issue; I was placed on hold for more than 45 minutes. When a person finally did anshwer, I was told I was at the wrong department. When I reached the right department (5 minutes later), the service representative told me she could not resolve my issue and was told "that a supervisor will call you back." (As of this writing, I have not heard from anyone from Ambit Energy)

The following moring at 0900, I called back again to try and resolve the issue. Ambit had charged me a total of $190 for a reconnection fee, "when my service was NEVER DISCONNECTED! In addition, when I initially enrolled I went from a fix-rate fee to what I thought was a 1 year fixed rate fee with Ambit. When I took a closer look at my bills and investigated my true charges, I had discovered I was on a month-to-month increasing plan.

When I called the following morning, my initial first two calls went right through to customer service, but they were disconnected immediately. (It was as if someone answered the call and just hung up.) So I redailed the same number again and the same thing happened again.

After a total of more than 1.5 hours waiting to speak with a real live person, when I did get on the phone with someone to express my frustration finally with the company's (lack of) service and to see what was happening with my account, the agent simply hung up on me! When called back and was placed immediately through to customer service, the call was once again immediately disconnected. When I tried again, I was placed on hold having to listen to their recording advertising their rates. When the agent picked up, she immediately hung up the phone - AGAIN.

The challange I am having is that since there is no way to contact their corporate offices and their service representatives arbitrarily can place you into a hold loop for hours, or simply hang up on you! What is most frustrating is that in as much as I want to cancel this service for "poor service" the company has a $199 cancellation fee.

AMBIT ENERGY on their website that their goal is - "to be the finest, most respected retail electric provider in the country,"

Unfortunately, Mr. Jere Thompson, Jr., I am not finding this to be the case! I have been hit with a RECONNECT surcharge of $190 when my service never went out! How do you explain this? Where I come from, this is called theft!

The only reason we signed up with Ambit energy was because a dear personal friend stated that yours was a good company and that we could expect to receive a higher level of personalized service over our forment utility carrier. Well Mr. Thompson, we are not finding this to be the case.

I sincerely hope that the PUC, Attorney General Offices of the State of Texas and any other utilility commission governing body will take a real close and hard look at your Company's business practices. Mr. Thompson, $190 reconnect fee for never having our service disconnected is ridiculous. I fully understand if this was the case you would be entitled to every penny.

It seems in this day of corporate greed, it's really hard to tell the good guys from the bad ones. Ambit Energy is not one of the good guys, I can assure you of that!

I live in Dallas TX and worked for an electric company. The first step is to request a supervisor. This of course is only possible if they don`t keep hanging up on you. If you cannot get any satisfaction from a supervisor, I advise writing to the president of the company and also (most importantly) contacting the PUCT. PUCT stands for The Public Utility Commision of Texas. They are the body that oversees the utility companies. This goes for water, gas etc. as well as electric. They have a website and an 800 number. If you talk to a supe, threaten to go to the PUCT. This usually scares them because they (utility companies) can get fined ASTRONOMICAL fines for screwing the public. I hope this helps!

My wife is an Ambit Energy Consultant, and I just wanted to throw in my two cents. We have 41 customers so far, without a single complaint, as well as a close personal friend, who has been on Ambit Energy for more than 2 years without a single complaint. Besides the fact that we've not ever heard any complaint until this web site, the reports we here are extremely positive. First of all, we are in a position where we must call customer service on behalf of our customers on a regular basis, and we have been blown away, thus far, with the efficiency of Ambit's customer service. Secondly, complaints we are familiar with, are concerning other energy companies who charge fees that nobody knows what those fees are for. With Ambit there is only the KWH usage and the tax. That's it, nothing else. No hidden fees. I'm not saying the complaint is not real, but I feel that it is not representative of the company as a whole.

I want to thank to everyone, who provided information about Ambit Enrgy. Thanks to you I didn't sign the contract with Ambit. And I was almost ready to do so (as in Allen's case a personal friend recomended me to switch to Ambit). Thank you, it wasn't the first time ripoffreport saved me from becoming a victim of a scam. I'm Ron, and I'm a representative marketing consultant with Ambit Energy. I have nothing to gain (financially) from helping you, but being an employee of the company, I would like more information about your case, and would like to help you. I know there are 2 sides to every story, and would like to hear your side first. Please contact me directly and either let me know if I can help resolve your situation, or if Ambit Energy has already resolved this. Being aware of Ambit's satisfaction guarantee, this looks like a big misunderstanding. Thank You, Ron http://energy411.joinambit.com <-----You can find my contact info here.
