Why is it that chandler Ralph running that hospital over there in Saranac Lake Is not suppling people with Meds. who cant afford to buy them ? The pharmist in that hospital told me its her up stairs that does not like the federal guild lines . Who died and left her in charge ?

By law if you can not buy your meds. they are suppostto give it to you . CNBC ran a program and said there a program in NYC where you tell the doctor you cant buy the Meds. the doctor in turn writes you a note and the drug stores fill it for free . Whats the problem with this place ? Is this some special dump ?

Its time the people here come forward and put an end to there racketering and scams . Who's getting all the kick backs ? Why is Ralphy got the doctors in the Health Center signing contracts so they cant give out meds. ? Whats that big med. cabinet for in there ? For the employs to take home ?

The 1 doctor at the Health Center told me he could not give out and meds. because of the contract and we wont mention this name . Its time to put someone in that hospital that thinks of the people and not the all mighty dollor . And because your private hospital you still have to follow the rules 'dont use that for an excuse . All you towns people come forward and write a complant . If you ahve to send them to Washington DC.

sick of not being given the right care

Which law is it that says I have to dispense to you for free?

That's funny, I work in a pharmacy and gosh, we need to make money to stay afloat. However, talk to the doctor that saw you, very often they have access to free samples or at least coupons that you can use at the pharmacy. We've also been known to call the ER or your doctor for you to change to a cheaper antibiotic or other therapeutic equivalents. We will always provide you with any information that we have for drug discount cards from manufacturers, assistant programs, and what have you.

Buck up. At some point someone has to pay for those pills.

I can't help but question why you think that you should be given the medications for free in the first place. At some point someone has to pay for those pills. Why should it be someone who didn't even have a choice about you having children you can't afford? I don't think it's fair for your children to suffer for your poor judgement, it's not fair for rest of us to have to suffer for your choice (in higher taxes), and it's not fair that you attack a medical professional for not bending over backwards for you, a person who doesn't seem to appreciate what he's already done for her. You are selfish. You should be embarrassed about your behavior. Do what the rest of us do when we need something, work longer hours, get a second job, or request a raise. None of those things are fun, but you know what? Life is not always fun, get used to it.

If your so upset about not getting your meds then you shouldnt have voted for the "Contract with America" 10 years ago. Now dont go and deny it. You know you voted for it. And, you know you voted for Bush in '00 and '04. Only urban areas voted for Kerry and Clinton. All the other hillbilly backwater worthless inbred hicks vote GOP every time nowdays. It was that "Contract with America" that hosed (or at least stunted...permanently) our healthcare. And you can blame money grubbing bible thumping conservatives in the GOP now for scrubbing any relief from the prescription medication problem. Doctors have no power, even lawyers have no power thanks to these crooks and swindlers (kinda funny eh? Lawyers having no power over their own kind!). Only massive bloated corporations running HMO's and PPO's have any power. And all they care about is how much the top 2% of their upper management makes. If they can get an extra $500,000 a year on top of their outrageous $30 million a year salary by sticking it to you and me for outrageous pricing on meds.....they will do it! And the bible thumping money grubbing GOP will be goose stepping right behind them. Last election proved that 51% of Americans are full blown idiots. And by the other posts from Tupper Lake, I have no doubt that town is included in those GOP box seats. Enjoy your lack of meds.......you voted for it....you deserve it. Stop whining.

YOU ARE MISINFORMED

There is no requirement that hospitals (especially if they are "for-profit") "give" you medications if you can't afford them. Some states and many of the pharmaceutical companies do have programs for reduced cost of the more expensive medications taken on a regular basis for chronic conditions (diabetes, hypertension, etc.). If you have no health insurance, then check with your state health agency, as many states have special coverage for children at very low cost, and some even offer low-cost coverage for adults (cost based on income).

Many private doctor's offices will have samples available of some medications, but in general, all a hospital Emergency Room will give you is enough for 1-2 doses until you can get to the pharmacy. No more than that.

Surely there is another pharmacy around. On top of that, if the law is that they have to give it to you... why don't you contact someone; the law is the law. If they are not doing what they are supposed to do, then it would be illegal. I for one agree with John... obviously you have a computer, sell it and get your kiddos the meds they need. Pawn something, there are ways to get money ... borrow it.

Barbaric Suggestions

#13Consumer Comment

Tue, February 15, 2005

Oh my GOD John (Kentucky) what a barbaric and preposterous suggestion.. that someone should give up the "necessites" of life such as 72 channels of cable television, plus internet access. (about 70 dollars a month as a package) and go without a computer!! another 500 bucks (low end estimate) in order that their offspring receive medicine and decent food and clothing.

I mean what are they supposed to do all day, work??

How would they ever get to see Jerry Springer to see if any of their family is on TV? and how would they get to play online bingo for real money? Or I.M. their other jobless friends? although it was never officially mentioned I would bet there is a cell phone bill, cigarettes, maybe a little beer and of course weekly amounts of dorito's and mountain dew which come before saving money for medical emergencies.

People need to become adults and start being responsible for their lives. Instead of complaining how the "system" isn't giving you enough free stuff.

just a suggestion ...as a physician

#14Consumer Comment

Mon, February 14, 2005

First...as a physician. ear infections are very rarely life threatening or likely to cause permanent hearing damage. Nearly 80 percent resolve by themselves. Second, most physicians have ample samples of medication for the asking. Third, you obviously have both a computer, cable television (cnbc) and internet access...these cost money. If my child needed money for medicine i would happily sell my computer and give up my internet access to provide it. Pharmacies do not get their medicine for free either.. Lastly...if you cant afford children...dont give birth to them.
