Under the name of American Home Energy Audit, LLC, we attended a demonstration luncheon in San Angelo, TX, regarding an insulation blanket to be installed in the attic to reduce energy bills up to 40% off of current usage.  This was demonstrated by a replica of 2 attics filled with insulation, one with an additional blanket of insulation covering the insulation normally used in attics, with 2 heat lamps over each of these replicas to have it heat up.  Probes were inserted in both replicas with read out instruments for audience to see.  The insulation blanket was also described as the same type of material used by NASA to deflect heat upon re entry into our earth's atmosphere.  It was impressive to say the least.  We agreed to meet with the sales rep the next day to have him do an energy audit of our home and discuss the pricing, etc.  We finally came to an agreement to install the product if the financing was at 0%, along with the promise of a lifetime supply of led bulbs to further our electrical usage savings.  (These bulbs lasted from 3-6 months each - a case was valued by them as $700.)  The price for insulation in attic and installation was $3285.00, signed for on 8/14/13.  After about a year and with ZERO savings in comparison, I called and spoke to Rylee Meek.  He was not very congenial, but said in order to determine the usage, he would have to see our bills for a 4 year period.  I told him we had only been at this address for only 2 years.  He said he would see what he could do.  However, there was never any more contact - we could not get him on the phone, nor did we get any written responses to our communications.  Recently, we had our attorney write a detailed letter requiring a complete refund based on deceptive trade and advertising practices and send it certified.  It was returned to our attorney, unopened, unsigned as though no one was there at that address, or they refused to sign for it.  It was also recently determined that the actual product put in the attic was not even the type of insulation demonstrated with multi-layers at the sales luncheon.  It is a con all the way around.  The only remedy we seek is total reimbursement, and public awareness of the scam.
