I have read several other reports regarding AMEX current action lower credit lines or requesting payments before the due date. My experience is simliar except they justified their action by lying about my credit history.

I have two accounts with AMEX. One personal & one business. I have always paid the balance in full long before the due date. Many times within 10 days of the charge.

I received a letter from them stating they had lowered my personal account from a $35,000 limit to $500 because I had been past due on my AMEX accounts. That is just a lie.

They also said they "carefully reviewed" my Experian credit report and said there were several delinquent accounts with other companies. I pulled my report and there wasn't a single account reported as past due. I have an 803 credit rating.

I think AMEX is running scared because of the current financial issues with the nation. I know for sure they have poorly trained personnel who conduct these reviews.

I worte them for an apology, but don't expect to receive one. That's okay I have Master Cards and they love me. I cancelled the AMEX cards. No loss, I just used them for reward points.
