We got the AHS Warranty when we purchased our house in 2006.  We knew our AC unit would eventually go out - that was the main reason we kept the Warranty for 9 years.  Over the course of 2 years our AC unit kept going out. AHS sent (what seemd like the bottom of the barrel) contractors out to continually put band-aids on our unit.  Our evaporator coil went out this last time.  It was going to cost us over $1000 out of pocket to have it replaced - AHS was going to put an old coil (not used) into our system whicy would have caused it to have problems witho our outside compressor.  After several months we decided to cut our loss and upgrade the unit.  AHS gave us $600 - ironic the first AHS contractor submitted a cost of $1200. 

AHS customer service is horrible!  They are extremely hard to get a hold of, their management staff is not any better.  Save yourself the headach and the money.  Put $500 into a savings account every year not them!  When it comes time to repalce something big you will have plenty of money to cover the item.
