Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

Being required to install a device on your vehicle is going to be a stressful event for the time period you have been given, the very last thing you need is additional stressors. American Interlock will be a stressor you can avoid by simply not doing business with these criminals. This is 2018. I have had this device for almost 20 months for A 1994 DRUNK DRIVING CONVICTION! YES, 24 YEARS AGO! MY HAND TO GOD! I have had problems with American Interlock. Problems throughout the term. You will speak to people who are extremely rude, obstinate, and stupid. Regardless the reason for the call you'll be speaking to this type of individual.

American Interlock will hit you with a fee at every turn, whatever the problem is you can rest assured it's your fault and there's a fee assigned to your issue like today. I must keep this short; I was charged 50.00. In four days my car would not start until the 50.00 is paid. It was also a major violation that will be reported to the State of Michigan. The cause of this? American Interlock's garbage equipment. They take no responsibility, the equipment is working fine, you must have alcohol in you. I WAS SHOCKED! I QUIT DRINKING YEARS AGO! Listen, I am only here to help, I really am. If you are faced with having to put a device on your car, DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH AMERICAN INTERLOCK, you will be sorry.

God Bless and Good Luck.

Yes your story does clear it up.  It shows how even though you tried to infer that you shouldn't have to go through this because it has been 24 years isn't really the full story.  The reality is that you got your license back in 1999. You admit that you were aware that one of the conditions was to have one of these devices put in. You never "manned up" and put the device in your car.  For various reasons it took them 22 years to catch up to you, and if you didn't run that red light probably would still be driving without the device.

Now you are paying the consequences you should have done a couple of decades ago to put this behind you.  One curious thing is how did you get a Canadian Drivers license with 2 DUI convictions. They have just as strict laws, in fact I believe a bit stricter.   Also, Canadian Provinces and US States often share information like this and I am sure they would have wanted to know your current DL status.  I won't say you outright lied but I would bet you were "less than honest" when filling out the applications.

You are trying to make it about this company, and that is fine. If they were really this bad why didn't you change well before this? But what it really comes down to is that you are the one who put yourself in this situation and while you are taking SOME responsibiltity you are still trying to make excuses and not taking FULL responsibility.

Robert, I am not certain why it's so important considering I am on here to warn people about American Interlock, but you asked so I will tell you. I had two drunk driving cases six months apart. In 1999 I applied for a driver license, I was awarded a driver license with the device only. At the time it didn't matter anyway because I did not own a car, when I would get a car I would get the device. I got married. My wife was from Canada and that's where we decided to live. I applied for and was granted a driver license in Ontario. I was stopped in Sterling Heights for running a red light a few years back, and the process began to have the device put on my vehicle, Robert. The sentence of two years with the device was upheld from the 93 conviction. Hope that satisfies your curiosity, Robert.

It is good that you stopped drinking years ago, but you say this happened 24 years ago, and only had this device in your car for 20 months?

I know the courts are slow but 22 years to hear a Drunk Driving case?

As according to MI state law it appears to take at least 2 convicitions within a period of time to even have this device required. So on that it can't be that single conviction unless it was more serious than for just drunk driving.

So what is the rest of the story here?
