LAGUNA NIGUEL -- A man believed to be the bank robber known as the "Blue Note Bandit" has been arrested after an alleged 15 bank heists in 2 months, according to an Orange County sheriff's spokesman. Orange County sheriff's department officials confirmed they have arrested 50-year-old David Camp, whom they believe is the prolific bank robber. Camp was arrested Wednesday outside his Laguna Niguel home on an unrelated warrant from Los Angeles for fraud. Neighbors of the suspected bank robber say between 50 to 75 law enforcement officials swarmed his home in the 23000 block of Porpoise Cove. "At 6:30 p.m. or so I walked out of my house and I [saw] the Blue Note Bandit lying on the ground, arms to the side, with 3 cops with their guns drawn on him," said neighbor Scott Sager. Neighbors say Camp is a married man with two teenage sons. Detectives had reportedly been surveilling the suspect for the past few days. Authorities have not found any of the money. Camp has a criminal history of fraud, theft and drug violations, according to Orange County sheriff's spokesman Jim Amormino.

Camp's bail has been set at $250,000. The bandit's most recent heist was on February 9, at a Home Savings of America branch at 24380 Moulton Parkway in Laguna Woods. He went about his robberies very "methodically," according to FBI Special Agent Pete Angelini. He handed the tellers a note demanding "large bills" and threatened them if they didn't move fast enough. On the 9th, he walked up to a teller with a note demanding currency in large denominations, said Amormino. Amormino declined to say how much money the robber made off with. "He's the most prolific bank robber probably in Southern California," Amormino said of the bandit, who got his nickname from using a demand note on blue paper in one of his earliest holdups. The suspect also robbed a U.S. Savings Bank branch inside a Ralph's supermarket at Golden Lantern and Del Avion in Dana Point on February 7. No weapon was used in the holdup, but the suspect indicated he was armed, according to Amormino. "We haven't seen anything like this in quite some time," Angelini said, referring to the frequency of holdups. The bandit was also linked to 13 other robberies at: -- California Bank and Trust in San Juan Capistrano on Nov. 30 -- Chase Bank branch in Costa Mesa on Dec. 1
