I have had a loan with Americredit since Jan 2005, Americredit contacted me to advise that my auto loan had expired/ended/loan matured because I had paid 68 months on a 60 month loan. after a few days, I called back and spoke with a rep, after a brief discussion because I couldn't understand what she was telling me, the rep advised me that I now owe $3600(not sure of exact amount quoted)and that Americredit was giving me until 1/27/11 to pay the amount in full, she said if I didn't have the money, I had 3 options...1. trade in vehicle for new one, 2. refinace the vehicle or 3 pay the amount NOW due, and I explained that I would need to get the money together from Oct 12 until the end of Dec 2010 I spoke with someone just about everyday regarding the vehicle, and advised them I was working on gathering the funds to pay this off, in between time, I paid them about $800 that they did not credit to my acct, also refusing to provide me with the title to the car, each time I spoke with someone they advised me that I had until 1/27/11 to pay, that is the last day we will give you to settle the acct, still each day I receive a call about it and each day I explained I was working on it, I asked them several times if I could make any other arrangements to settle the acct because i wanted to pay it off and get the title and be done with them, they refused to make any other arrangements, telling me you only have until 1/27/11, so on Sat 1/8/2011 at 5:30 am, they had the car repossessed, the company that came Elite told me to take off my plates but I refused and did not release the keys to them. on Saturday I called Americredit the office is open from 9-1 on Saturday, they never returned my call, I called on Monday morning about 6 times, leaving messages and spoke with a few reps, each one telling me something different about the acct, when the dept that handles reassignment called me back late that afternoon, the guy told me that they took the car because I was not communicating with them and they had to make a decision, he then advised me that I owe $4027 to get the car back, I told him I would pay it because I didnt't want it on my credit report and he said we will work with you, but we are only giving you until 1/20/11 to pay the $4k or that price will change, and he advised me that the tow company will be taking my car to auction on 1/22/11, I have been trying to reach them to work out other arrangements but have not gotten any return calls, I pulled up my credit report with experian yesterday 1/12/11 and they reported a repossession on my report already stating the balance due for Jan 2011 is $2997.

this company has stolen from me, the car, the money, and they had no intentions on givig any of them back. now I need help to remove them from my life and my credit report, please help I am seeking and in need of all advise. Americredit has harassed me for 5 years, if I knew than what I know now!!! I have already filed a complaint with each credit bureau, the attorney general of TX and BBB of Texas and awaiting some action, they need to be place out of business immediately.

Okay why did they have to contact you saying that you made 68 payments on a 60 month loan? Did you have deferments, late payments,or make other arrangements over the term of the loan that would have extended it?

Because most people wouldknowWHENthe car should have been paid off. Perhaps with automatic paymentsand you not paying close attention,an extra payment or two would go through. But 8 payments, and it would have been more if they didn't contact you seems like there is something going on.

Now, if you did have deferments, late payments,or other "arrangements" over the loan that is going to change your total loan amount. This could increase the number of payments and/or create a "balloon" payment at the end of the loan.

If you do have a balance due at the end of the term, for what ever reason,a finance company will require that due immediatly. They "said" they were giving you over90 days, which is very good. In reality they gave you just under90 days, which is still longer than a lot of companies would have done. But if what you are saying is true would be a valid complaint.

Now, in about 2 months you came up with $800 of $3600 that they said you owed. Are you saying that in another 19 days you were going to be able to come up with another $2800? I'm just saying that as a reality check, in that if you really wanted to get this taken care of and had the money why were you pushing it?

By the way they won't give you your title until the loan is paid off.
