I feel for you - as my family was put in a similar situation because of these vultures. They do not care if you are having financial problems - they would rather take your home than offer you a simple payment plan on a missed payment. Call your state AG's office and banking division and file a complaint. Also, request a full copy of your file from Ameriquest. Review the documents (application, HUD-1 and all other info) with a fine tooth comb. Look for forgery and incorrect information. Requesting you to pawn something to pay them should tell you something about their character. They told me not to pay my car payment. I said that would be great - than how will I get to work to pay the overpriced loan you sold me. The bate and switch tactic - raising the interest rate right before you close the loan - is typical of them - however, a good defense if you can find an attorney to represent you in a suit against them. Fight these people all the way - people are winning settlements from them all over the country. You need to document everything they say to you, how often they call and keep all letters from them. You can save your home, but you will have to fight for it. Go to msfraud.org and do some reading on them and others alike. Best of luck to you and all the others that have been victimized by them.
