I purchased a 2003 Pontiac Aztec from Andy Mohr in Fishers, IN and have had nothing but trouble. All Aztecs have only a 36,000 mile warranty due to the problems that have been noted on the 2003, 2004, & 2005 Aztecs.

Besides the small problems like the locks being worked on 3 times, the gear shift buckling and blowing apart while sitting in my garage, my hub bearings went out, my front and rear brakes had to be replaced; and now after spending money to have the parts replaced in my transmission because it would not move - Andy Mohr is quoting me $1600.00 to recalibrate and replace more parts. If you check the back lot at Andy Mohr, you will find it filled with used Aztecs. The cost of a new Aztec was at $25,000, now the value is $9,700 (2 years later). I still have a balance of $16,000.00. I am a vietnam widowed grandmother raising 4 granchildre (3 of which are disabled) and have no transporation to and from work or to their doctor appointments. I have spent $368.00 in May 2005 on a rental and now I am returning a rental on Tuesday with a bill of close to $400.00. The only response that I can get from Andy Mohr and GM Corporation is that I need a receipt for the work I had done previously on my transmission. I do not see what difference it makes on what other work was done on my vehicle. I believe that once a corporation knows that they have a defective automobile, they should do a recall on the transmission (which is stated in the report) that only the dealerships can obtain. My son-in-law works for Saturn and pulled the report off of the inter-net for me. I would like for Andy Mohr to buy my car back, so that I can purchase a vehicle that will allow myself with my 4 grandchildren to be able to get to the store, the doctor and any place that a 2003 vehicle should do. I have had several automobiles in my 53 years and have never had one that has had the problems that the Aztec does. Please help me any way you can, or give me some leads on who might be able to help me.

#2UPDATE EX-employee responds

Tue, June 09, 2009

I learned first hand how customers were treated by this company, which is no surprise they treat their employees equally as bad. (If not worse) I am sorry to hear of your issues and Jason who responded above IS an employee of the company (big surprise). This company has gotten bad over the past few years and has numerous complaints. Andy has no sympathy. He cares nothing about what a customer has to say especially if you have already bought the vehicle. Once they sell it to you they like to pass the blame and worry only about the people who are there trying to buy a vehicle. They have a horrible reputation for being pushy and aggressive. Kind of like a pack of wild wolves. They advertise on their windows they are members to the BBB and they are not! Andy Mohr is a shady business and should be one of the company's the auto maker shut down. But they are so good at screwing over people it is hard to catch them.

I am submiting my own complaints. You need to send a letter to the attorney general of Indiana. YOu also need to send a letter to Andy Mohr, himself in care of the Ford dealership in Plainfield, make it look professional and mark it confidential/personal. At least make an attempt to play upon his sympathies, if the man has any. Just in this week alone, I have found out what this business is about. Take that next vehicle to a shop and spend some money to be looked at from top to bottom, and underneath. The rebuttal you first received, could very well have been written by one of their people ...... car dealership pay a lot of money to local network television stationsl so........you do not hear of how they rip off true law abiding citizens like you and I, and take our money, when all we wanted was a dependable car. You did not say how many miles was on the car when you bought it??

Sorry I see nothing that points to the dealer being responsible

It's unfortunate, however, I see nothing that points to the dealer being responsible for anything mentioned here. Reading up on the Aztek, it does appear that they have a large number of issues with the wheel bearings, lots of talk about head gasket issues early in life (50k miles or so) and problems with the rear hatch. Brakes seem to be a concern as well. Almost ANY vehicle, and any GM product comes with a 3 year 36,000 mile warranty. Of course, all car dealers also try to get you to spend the extra $2000 for the extended warranty (5 yrs 100,000 miles) which would have covered everything that you have had problems with. Most people won't pay the extra money because they don't think it's worthwhile. One engine or transmission problem eliminates that way of thinking. Recalls are generally only done for safety measures when required by the federal government. I see alot of people talking about the wheel bearings, but what percentage of them fail early? Why do you hear about so many of them? Because people don't post here when things aren't wrong. A mechanic that tells you "I see alot of wheel bearing failures" doesn't necessarily mean that they fail in every vehicle, but that's the common failure. Someone comes in saying their front end is squeaking, he immediately focuses on the wheel bearings because he's seen it many times.
