Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
Received a phone call today from AT&T stating this was a caller assisted phone call. OK this means the person on the other end is usually hearing impaired and has a special device.

Customer Anne wanted to know if I could replace an exhaust system on 2007 Cadillac. I stated I could do this since I am an exhaust and auto repair shop (been in business 40 years). Wanted to know what typed of exhaust customer wanted since this was a newer vehicle I thought they wanted something special. Anne stated exhaust had been damaged. Still not a problem. I told Anne to bring the vehicle to me and I would give a free estimate, since exhaust was damaged I thought maybe the whole exhaust wouldn't need to be replaced. This is when the customer stated they were having a problem with the transport company. I thougt customer was calling the tow company a transport company. I told the customer no problem when the vehicle arrived at my shop I would pay them and bill the customer when they picked up vehicle. Next Anne stated the car was in Lousiana, this is when I started to get suspicious. (Why tow a vehicle from Lousiana to Garland, Texas for exhaust work) asked customer this, but got no reply. So I figured the customer was bringing the vehicle to Texas and then would bring car to shop for work. Customer then wanted to communicate thru email. As soon as I hung up the phone I knew this was going to be a scam.

Got the email and customer wanted physcial address, done, but I asked the customer why tow from Lousiana to Garland Texas to have work done. Still didn't get a response the 2nd time I asked this question. The next email I received customer wanted to give me credit card info. Run the card at my business for $2900.00. I was to keep $1000.00 of the money and westen union $1900.00 of the money to the tranpsort company. Of couse I did not do this. I have now blocked further emails from this person. I have also made all my employees aware of this scam. I have 2 locations that I work and informed both places of this scam.

In looking back on this phone call I don't even think AT&T was assisting in this phone call. Anne probably wasn't even hearing impaired. I wish I would have asked AT&T what phone number was calling from. She problably was going to give me a stolen credit card number, then when I western unioned the money I would have been out the $1900.00 and when the credit card company came back on me I would also be out the $1000.00 also.

Scammers will try anything.
