Anthem College Online Anthem College kicked me out of college with 4 classes left to graduate,double charged me money, will not release my transcripts Phoenix, Arizona
I attended Anthem College Online and graduated with my Associates of Sciences in Business Management in August 2008. At this time I had not had any trouble with the school had a high GPA and was they were trying to help me find a job in my area. This only lasted about 3 months after graduation. Then I never heard from them again.
I wanted to return to get my Bachelors degree, but was told that the school was closed and would not open until the next year due to the fact that they were changing the type of accerdiadation.
I returned to Anthem in August 2009 to receive my Bachelors degree and they had changed the entire system. We were doing a course in 4 weeks then a week off. They stopped that. It was if they wanted people to fail. They had increased the amount of work with less time to do it in and no break between courses to help you mentally prepare for the next 4 week course.
You were required to post a discussion form/ answer to the question the instructor posted by Wed. You also had to reply to another students post by Sun. The word count went up from 250 to 500 between my Associates and Bachelors.It was not just the degree they increased the word count on all assignments. We would have a summary statement that was basically the same thing sometimes a questions sometimes just what we had learn that week, Learning Activity when up 350 to 500 words, the Library Resource Project went up from 500 to 800 words.
I had been doing well in my courses and then my disabled father which I take care of and I am also a single part of two children. I also have many health problems of my own. The worst which is chronic headaches and migraines. I had a lot of things going on in my life in 2011, I was going through a court battle with family over an estate, we had a lot of severe weather, my dad was in the hospital, and I was suffering from major headaches of all kinds. My sinuses were in bad shape. I went to an Allergy Center and had to start taking 3 shots a week.
Due to the entire things that were happening in my life I should have taking a leave of absence, but I thought that I could tuff my way through it. I was wrong. I failed and had to repeat several classes. This made my GPA drop a little below 2.0. They kicked me out of school and said that I could appeal the decision.I sent in all of my paper work, and proof that all the problems that I was having over the past year was dealt with and would no longer be a problem.
This was a typed three page letter with copies from lawyer, copy of proof that my dad was in the hospital, I also wrote as a P.S. I had gotten a new DSL so that there would not be any trouble with my connection in the future. I was only 4 classes away from graduating and I had spent too much time and money not to finish now.
They denied appeal due to the fact of the DSL did not represent mitigation circumstance. That was not even the reasons I wrote in the appeal. I hand wrote that P.S. at the end as an FYI. They did not even look at my proof that I submitted.
Then I got a bill saying that I owed them $3000.00. But yet they did not refund the federal government its money to my knowledge. The copies of my financial ledger from the school that I have are majorly messed up. I tried to go to another school to get my last four classes to get my degree and they will not release my transcripts.
So I would have to start from the beginning I need help.If there is anyone out there that can help me with the degree, money and transcripts I really would be grateful.
