On or about 27 Feb, 2009 I opted to try the "free" dialup internet access service of NetZero. It then became blatantly apparent that:

1) The service was of no use to me

2) The staff at NetZero were completely incompetent

3) That I would end up fighting the whole mess

I elected to phone into their "Technical Support Department" on no less than three occasions. The representative would not comply with my request to identify themselves allowing me the privilege of being able to pin point who I have spoken with and when. I was then directed to a "supervisor" who informed me that I did not require this information. He stated that by identifying myself they (NetZero) could trace the call record (logs) to verify my calls. I was then directed to an "agent" who would assist me in the cancellation of the account. I have since misplaced my handwritten records of these calls. This agent "assured" me that I had no account to cancel! I "assured" her that NetZero would end up charging me anyway. Of course they did. My bank statement shows $14.95 debited by NetZero on the 28th March, 2009.

My next phone call was promptly upon recognizing the debit from NetZero. The first customer service agent was of no use to resolve the issue and choose to transfer me. I asked the second agent I spoke with if indeed they had a call log. She stated they did but showed no record of my cancellation call. In fact she stated they showed a single call to Technical Support. Perhaps this is due to the fact that I was transferred numerous times during that Technical Support call. At any rate, she very adamantly stated that there was no call to cancel the account. I corrected her in that they don't admit to any record of a call to cancel the account, a correct and true statement. Telling me there was no call to cancel the service is analogous to calling me a liar.

There is no doubt but that NetZero has "pulled" this stunt repeatedly. They should suffer consequences for these devious and calculated attempts to defraud the public.

Stand with me, I love a good fight!
