On 4/1/2003 I purchased a 2000 pontiac sunfire from Fred Beans of Limerick pa. and the sales rep Gary Black highly suggested a warranty from Easycare.

I proceeded to purchase what I thought was a 48 month warranty or 100,000 additional miles whichever came first. The warranty price was $2,189 plus tax but at least I had peace of mind.

(After careful review of the warranty at a later date I was shocked to find out that the warranty only covered the vehicle until the actual odometer reached 100,000 miles. Since I bought the car with 56,000 miles on it I realized that i was only covered for 44,000 more miles. That comes out to paying 5 cents for every mile driven. This is a very deceiving practice but this is not why I gotted Ripped Off.)

Hearing a knocking sound from my engine in June of 2004 I though it best to take my care to the closest dealer to my house. The mechanic took the engine apart and informed EASYCARE that the vehicle would need a new engine. It took EASYCARE 1 week to send out Inspector Corey Reynolds. Corey's opinion was catastrophic failure of the rod bearings with sub-damage due to lack of lubrication. (Corey your report states Automatic Transmission and it's actually a manual so you can correct your report.

I check my oil regularly with every gas-fill and have been very diligent in oil changes etc. My last oil change was 2,500 miles earlier and I never had an oil light go on but Easycare concluded that the incident was due to lack of oil. They suggested I go after the last company that changed my oil for failure to tighten the filter.

That is where the Easy part comes in I guess as from that point on I was easily dismissed.

Gary Black insisted he was not allowed to call the warranty company but agreed that we had been done a diservice as thier may have been many reasons for a loss of oil due to Engine failure.

I know owe $10,000 on a car that needs at least $5,000 worth of work. The wholesale value on the car is around $6,000.

I have 3 years of payments to make and do not have access to a car but 1 thing is for sure EASYCARE could CARELESS.

Thanks for giving me a voice

Do you have copies of all you LOF you should have three to four LOF to help build a case. If as EasyCare suggests do you have a large oil deposit on your driveway? If you do you may want to take pictures. What is the exact mileage at the time of failure you stated you bought the vehicle with 56K? Return to the selling dealer ask of a copy of their pre-delivery inspection sheet to determine if the failure may have been present at the time of sale.
