Tucson,#2UPDATE EX-employee responds

I completed the Medical Assisting program at the Apollo college in Mesa in the month of August. My experience while attending that poor excuse for a school was awful. My teacher quit half way through the term and lost a bunch of peoples grades. Our replacement teacher did not really teach, she just read us the power point. I got straight A's because the course material was entirely too simple, except of course for the under educated poor people that Apollo targets. The only thing that kept me going to that suck shack was the promise of a job...that I still do not have. I have been making a huge effort in finding work here in Tucson, AZ with practically no help from the "job placement" , and nobody will even give me the time of day. I have been to two interviews in 5 months of searching. I have been living on peoples couches, and searching for employment. The only thing I gained from attending this school is enormous debt, that I will most likely spend the rest of my life trying to pay off. Thanks for adding to the s**t in my life Apollo. It is my fault for not researching enough before going to this place. But if anyone is reading this that is considering going to this place, DO NOT DO IT! Go to a community college instead. I wish I could get back the time and money that I wasted there.

I want to support the person that went into the veterenary program. The person that responded to him defending Apollo College is probably someone that works for them and is trying to make them look good. First of all, they do guarantee job placement and this is what they tell people when they're trying to trap you into enrolling. The teaching is terrible and they pass anybody even if they are absent everyday and flunk every test! They just want to take people's money; they do not care about training people well or getting them a job!

I too graduated from the Vet Assistant program at Apollo College. I have a few problems with the facts that were stated in this report as they are completely false. First of all, part of the problem is that you did not do research on your own to find out what your diploma would be in - if it is a Vet Assistant program you are obviously not going to graduate as a Vet Tech - HUGE DIFFERENCE - Second, if you were so upset with the way they "slopped" through your financial aid and enrollment agreement, that again is your own fault for not asking them to clarify anything that you did not understand. Third, almost the ENTIRE program is hands on and lab time and you knew there was not an externship when you enrolled so if this was something that was important to you, you shouldn't have enrolled - oh and by the way. the Phoenix Campus does not have an externship with their Vet program - it is not part of the curriculum at any of the campuses. Apollo does not "guarantee" job placement - nobody can guarantee they will find someone a job, what they do guarantee is job placement ASSISTANCE. You have to do your share of getting yourself a job as well. If you had the fax #'s to various clinics why did you not fax your resume yourself? I and many others have had a wonderful experience at Apollo College and will continue to reccommend the school to everyone!

I also failed to mention, that I did have a couple of interviews, but the Veterinarians who interviewed me did not want to hire me because I attended Apollo College. Apollo College has a bad reputation, they are not credible in the eyes of employers. I wasted 12,000. I want my money back, I feel like I was totally riped off and I am not the only person who feels this way!
