I have nothing more to add except for the fact that I am also an excellent employee that standds for integrity and would be more than happy to go teh extra mile to make sure my students don't get hung up with a bill. I can only do so much, though. The rest is up to the student. This is about BIG MONEY, and since you are borrowing the money, you need to be responsible and have all the facts straight BEFORE e-signing on the dotted line. (IE: MPN, privacy policies, student rights and responsibilities). Read the fine print and you will avoid situations like these.

Hello I used to work at this school and I think you are leaving out some information. You can not miss more than 2 weeks of attendance (posting into the classroom twice a week, two different days) or you will be auto-dropped and Federal Title IV funding does not pay for failed or dropped classes so that is why you incurred that out of pocket bill. If you had only missed that one week then you were dropped unfairly. But this virtually never happens and if it did, SOME kind of recourse would be granted...so I am pretty sure you missed that 3rd week and were dropped automatically. This is an automated function- not a human function. You also have 7 days in the week. On two of those days it was your responsibility to find an internet connection and check in to class....you can not blame failing to do this on the school. Especially if you had already missed 2 weeks...the last week is certainly not the week to miss...you were able to use the internet- you e-mailed you professors. If you could not get into the school site, you were advised to call technical support and get a refrence number as proof of your inability...EVERY student knows this. There is no way I know every student but I'd bet my bottom dollar that when you started classes the protocol for technical difficulty with the classroom is to call the student tech support number and get a refrence number.... I'll give it to you that an admissions rep may not give you all the information, but you should have had a welcome call with your finance advisor right before or on the first day of class. One thing I will say is (my experience) those FA's give allllll the facts and figures because gyuess what, they don't want you on their report for failing or defaulting. It is how they are measured, by a matrix of how many of their students owe money or fail thus being illeligible for financial aid. So you best believe that they give you the full financial picture. I am not saying this is your case, but I've done conference welcome calls where the FA gives the information and when the student fails or autodrops they cry 'you never told me!!.' More students decided against going to UOP on the financial aid welcome call than any other time because hearing the facts and expensive figures and high consequences for not staying in good standing is enough to turn people away. Also, I am a bit annoyed that so many people blame the school for not telling them that when they enter the Bachelor's program that the tuition is more expensive. Who signs up for school and does not know how much the tuition is? Is it not common sense that an associates degree is cheaper than a BA. (This is not a slight to you personally, I am speaking generally). Now as far as price, I agree it is very expensive, too expensive for my tastes. But you can not be mad at the school because their tuition is too expensive... I am sorry you had a bad experience at UOP and if your original post was 100% true and you are not holding out your missteps then my heart goes out to you and I can give you great contact information of directors and managers at UOP that do not stand for misrepresentation or wrongdoing on behalf of the university. I was a great employee and did well during my time there. I even worked to get students OUT of collections and back in good stading. There are good people there at UOP...but you have to take responsibility for thr things within your control....i.e. attendance.
