1. The college mentions the assignments in 2 places, the main syllabus tells us to refer to the instructors syllabus. During the 1st class the instructor would let us know if we were to send something to the individual forum instead of a section on the main class stream. During the 2nd class, she did not. I completed a field observation on the 1st day of the 3rd week. Lost iinteret connections, bad software, & little team participation were of little concern to the instructor.  I waited to see when and where to send it. The next Tuesday, I received the weekly grade. She said I should have known that on the main syllabus it says it is due on Thursday and is 1 letter grade off each day. Then, she says I should have known it was not the forms included on the main syllabus but a written paper, so 3/10.

2. I had told the advisors that I was dropping out of the program. I told them I wanted to complete the last week. Saturday as I prepared to turn in everything promptly, but a form to fill out on time Monday, I was locked out of the class with the end of class survey. I filled it out, accurately. It said "End of Class" so I thought that was it. When I went on Monday night after work, the class was open. The advisors say I was supposed to know that I could continue after the survey, how so? Overall they averaged my first F. Tough program, sure, it's more like a guessing game.

I attended UOP between 2006 and 2009. Your credits are non transferrable. Oh yeah I also forgot to tell you they have double charged me for some of my classes, so instead of owing 8,000 for 1 year of school, they have charged me 13,000. I can prove this on my credit report. If I were you, I would quit now while you are ahead. Everyone have a great experience for the first 9-18 weeks, then it all goes south, ESPECIALLY if your tuition involves loans and grants. My loans are now defaulted cuz of these people, and I will tell everyone I know if they ask, stay far far away from these people.

I am current student of UoP. I started in July of 2009, just months prior to the above report being made. The information regarding the syllabus is incorrect. First the syllabus for each class is found in only a single location. There is also another file which is the course calender which lets us know when assignments are due. Since there is only one syllabus per class, which is in a single location, it makes it impossible for a student to be confused as to "which" syllabus to go by.


All assignments are to be posted in the individual forum section. There is no other location in which to post it! Each class I have had so far included a post by the instructor with the basic instructions on where to post our work, clearly to avoid any possible confusion that the filer of the complaint suggests. Since there are different instructors for each class, I am left unsure as to how the filer suggests that during the second class that the instructor did not inform them. Considering a student would have had multiple assignments due by the third week, and the instructor would have reviewed said work, and sent a weekly student progress report, it seems strange that they student would still be unsure as to how to deliver their work to the instructor. Either the student would have posted the work in the wrong area, which would have prompted the instructor to ask for the work to be posted in the proper place, or would have asked where three week's worth of work is. Of course, the student is an adult and if they have any questions, they should be responsible enough to ask the instructor for clarification. The filer suggests no such action was taken.


I have only encountered a single problem with my connection to the school's site since July 2009. That problem was fixed, lasting less then a complete day. My instructors were notified of the outage and were more then understanding that we could not access the site, therefore I was not deducted points for turning in an assignment late due to the school's confirmed problem. Connections to the school are out of the school's control, therefore they cannot confirm every reported outside problem. It is unfortunately a risk we all take, much as students of traditional schools risk not having their car start and missing a class. Also assignments are not deducted a full letter grade for each day they are late. In fact assignments are not given a grade, instead they are given a value of points which go towards our final grade, which is the only letter grade assigned. The student would have lost 10% of the maximum point value, not a letter grade. Again, a student should be proactive if they are unsure about the procedures, therefore the loss of points is on the head of the filer, not the school.


The end of class survey does not suggest that the student is locked out of the class. If the filer checked on Monday, why did they not check after completing the end of class survey days before Monday came around? What prompted the filer to check after they believed they were locked out? This seems to be another instance of the filer's own confusion, and not taking the initiative to attempt a single mouse click, or to call up the school to ask questions. No school is going to take us by the hand and lead us about, not online, nor traditional schools. All students need to be proactive and take responsibility for their actions, as well as responsibility for clarifying what has them stumped.

I was attending this school for a while. Nowadays I tell everyone stay far far away from them. They only make pain and grief. I am 10 k in debt for a year of school I attended while I was homeless nonetheless. I left because of crappy instruction. If I asked for a call to explain anything, I always heard "read the material and you'll figure it out". Well duh, I did read it, and I didn't understand it so why do you think I am asking questions?? I am currently trying to figure out how I can get my loans out of default status now since the university screwed me up bad.

I have a few issues with your post. If you didn't know where to post something, you should have asked. If the syllabus didn't specifically state where it was to be posted and what format it should be in, you should have asked.

If the instructor wasn't giving you any answers, you should have reported it to your Academic counselor. They could have taken it from there. I have had some bad instructors before that never responded to questions or answered questions by referring you back to an all ready vague syllabus. In those cases, I always reported them to my AC and stayed on top of it until the problem was taken care of.

It sounds to me like you gave up without even trying to address the problem with anyone but your instructor. I hope you have had better luck since dropping out.
