Sometime in the Second week of March I purchased a car from a car dealer in queens New York. They did a credit check and took all of my personal and employment information. An application was submitted to Wells Fargo dealer services and my application was approved. I was given the terms of the loan and agreed and took the deal. I gave a deposit and was told to purchase insurance because the deal was approved by Wells Fargo and I needed insurance to complete the deal. The following week I purchased insurance for about $1000.00 and gave the dealer the binder. I signed the contract and was given plates and stickers for the window and the keys and drove off.

Before I left the dealership I was told that I would be contacted for an interview by the bank. I ask why and they said that it was just standard practice but that it had nothing to do with the deal. About a week went by and I was contacted by a woman from APPONE who said she wanted to ask me some questions. I told her that I was busy and if it was not an emergency could I call her back and she said yes. I called her back and she asked me some questions that I answered and I was fine with that.

Then she said that she would need to speak with someone in my human resources department at work. I told her thats fine but why because I submitted current paystubs from the previous week and week before as well as current w2s and was told by the dealer and Wells Fargo that this was a done deal. I also informed her that I bought insurance for the car and that I was driving it. She said thats between me and the dealer and was not her problem. I realized at this point that something was wrong I gave them everything that they asked for including a very large deposit and this deal was not done.

Money invested in insurance would not be refundable and repairs to the car would not be returned. Because I work for a small company that operates in a very highly regulated industry it would be difficult to get in touch with my human resources department without permission from the owner of the company. This is not very easy to get and all phone calls go to the system voicemail and are retrieved by the owner. I explained this to them and managed to get the owners assistant to give them a phone reference as well as a fax reference. They ask for information concerning my tax return information from the IRS.

I felt that this was very intrusive but I gave it to them as well because I had the car already and the dealer has my money. They then said that I was using the social security number of a dead person. I became upset and the dealer suggested that I speak with the manager of the person that was doing the inquiry because they had established a relationship with him and he was willing to help. I called him about two minutes after they told me this and he acted like he didnt know who I was or why I was calling. After explaining the situation to him he said he would take care of it just get him a direct number to my human resources department that was a land line.

He also asked me a few other questions like my job address and the floor I worked on which I found strange because I gave everyone this information a number of times. He said he would call and take care of it. I called back and he left for the day and did not call. The next day I was told that the deal was dead. He never called to confirm anything.  It is now April 8, 2011 and I have been driving this car for almost a month. Well Fargo told me verbally and in writing in a signed contract that this deal was done. After submitting too all of the inquires that they asked and submitting all of the documents that were requested they told the dealer that the deal was dead.
