Thanks, now I know. I won't purchase gas from Arco anymore. Or use the stupid stone age debit machine where you have to walk to the middle of the station to enter your pin.

All gas stations put some sort of hold on a credit or debit card purchase of gas. They do it to safeguard has become a valuable item. Some of the holds will go away right after your transaction is complete. However, some last for hours or even a couple of days. They will release your money. The only reason that they do it is to make sure you have enough money to purchase the gas. You swipe your card at the pump BEFORE you pump the gas. The computer in the pump doesn't know if you're buying one gallon or fifteen. It has to make sure that your account can cover it either way. I agree that $75 is a bit excessive, but I promise you'll get your money back. If you don't like the practice, pay cash for your gas.
