Artery planet.net hosted our online business and a disk problem on their end took the server down for DAYS. when it came up the WHOLE SITE and entire database was deleted. Blank! They do not back up their servers and failed to tell us.

The fine print of their user agreement says "not responsible for loss of data." It is buried in several pages of other stuff.

Please avoid them, they cannot be trusted to keep any data safe

My site went completely down and offline and I have no way of logging in to my client area or cpanel. I have sent numerous SOS messages over the past week. Since there is no telephone number and no response to emails one can never know whether he is even being heard. THis is something I am definitely going to change when I get my domain back. I will find another company where the technical support has a phone number at least. Everything has been fine for many years with this company. But it only takes one problem to reveal a glaring weakness. If there's no way to reach support in times of crisis this is a major problem!

I have been a hosting customer of Artery Planet for about 16 months now, and have to make a comment on the complaint filed above. As background, I have had domains hosted with 4 other companies over the last 10 years, so I am not a novice user. All *smart* hosting consumers should make sure they have their OWN backups. Difficult at times yes, but, when I value my data, I take the time to make sure I have the backups under my control. Even with databases, you can make your own crucial backups and have them downloaded to your computer. Accidents are going to happen, and in rare occasions, damage is so extensive that data cannot be recovered. Artery Planet does keep its customers in mind, and sends out notices well in advance of planned upgrades, maintenance windows, and important announcements. I have spoken to their staff and found them very polite, professional and knowledgeable. My one trouble ticket - a request to have tables unlocked - was handled quickly and accurately. I can highly recommend this company, and would host with them anytime. I do have sites hosted on their servers right now. I am not a paid spokesperson or an employee. I am a grateful hosting customer who is delighted she has found a reliable host and doesn't think they deserve a bashing.
