I was with Arvixe for about a year and a half, and it was fine.  It was actually great, for just $3.20 per-month.  Beginning in about May, 2015, I started having troule connecting or maintaining a connection to the Email server.  Then it just failed outright.  My ISP Email (using the same Thunderbird Email client, and also Evolution) still worked fine.  Some messages sent to me never arrived.  Some messages I sent never arrived.  That's very bad for me, and for existing and potential customers.

Arvixe was acquired by EIG in August of 2014.  As with other hosts they've acquired, persistent problems ensued for their subscribers.

I contacted support and got lots of words, but no improvement.  Then I went on Arvixe's user forums and saw lots of people in a similar situation begging for support.  Tech support doesn't seem to answer the phone, or be availble for live webchat anymore.  Lots of others make the same observation.

After three days with no Email, I switched hosting companies, as had many others posting in Arvixe's forums and being met with the same promises of help but weeks or months of the same problems.  I started a thread asking whether Arvixe (EIG) is trying to purge low-revenue customers.  All of those why provided the information are on the lowest pricing tier.  Some, like me, have modest hosting needs, but rely on their websites and Email for Customer Service and Marketing.

This is a pattern with EIG-acquired companies.  Somebody needs to stop them and make them pay for the damage they've caused and for their apparently dishonest practices.
