ASF International, I believe, purposefully deceives members (I'm sure they're very nice to their clients so as not to go out of business) by omitting helpful information in both verbal and documented communication with the intention of contractually forcing members into paying more money. Two examples of how poorly, yet strategically, this company operates are: (a) no reminder is ever given to a member that the payment stubs that are received in the mail are required (the average person might assume that not making the payment would cancel the contract), and (b) that all contracts made with ASF are auto-renewing. Because the information is in the small print on the backs of most contracts, however, they have more of a legal leg to stand on than you or I. The standards with which ASF does business are not the same as most companies these days. In most cases, if a member wishes to terminate a contract made with an organization, a simple phone call to customer service or an email will suffice. Not with ASF. ASF forces members to submit written notifications to a cancellation department before they will consider contract termination. I use the word 'consider' simply because I'm sure they have many stipulations hidden somewhere that will allow them to deny some cancellation requests. I believe they also 'lose' mail that was not certified by the US Postal Service or some other carrier. If this happens to you, as I believe it has happened to me, it means that ASF can deny that you ever wanted to cancel, and they can legally charge you for the next term of service. Please be sure to send certified mail, preferably with a return receipt, and call back often to check the status of your account. Better yet, avoid interacting with any business that uses ASF International! Any manager who sees how ASF International treats his or her members and still decides to use their services is just as guilty and those running ASF. The only question to be answered there is: what is the manager getting out of it?

ASF's goal is to Reduce the Number of Cancellations, Non-Renewals, and Past Due Accounts

Don't forget that the ASF International website clearly states the following: "Battle Attrition New sales will increase your revenue but cancellations, non-renewals and past due accounts will bring it down. You bring in the sales and we'll help reduce the rest." as one of the benefits of their EFT/Billing services. If ASF really has no motive to delay the cancellation process what specific services are offered by ASF to their clients to help reduce the number of cancellations, non-renewals, and past due accounts besides failing to honor cancellation requests?

Actually, ASF International is a billing service for health clubs and martial arts studios nationwide. We do not author any of the agreements that the facilities may have members sign. Geoffrey conveniently leaves out the fact that he signed a contract that clearly states his membership would automatically renew unless he gave the proper cancellation notice. We have very little motive to delay any cancellation processes, as the funds we receive from members are not ours to keep. In fact, it would be more costly to us to delay any cancellation process. Generally, the delays occur because the member has not fulfilled their responsibilities under the terms and conditions of the agreement they have signed.
