Annie, All you had to do was inform them in writing that this debt was included in bankruptcy. There is nothing they could do but get pissed and hang up. It is ILLEGAL for a collection agency to collect on a debt that was part of a bankruptcy. Im sorry to hear they took advantage of you and intimidated you into making a payment. FYI...NEVER even talk to ANY third party debt collector! And really NEVER give them any of your banking info, especially over the phone!! These people will rob you! Now it is too late, as you have re-affirmed the debt and it is now legally collectable! Third party debt collectors and junk debt buyers are absolutely powerless to do anything to you. They are a joke at best. They are the scum of the earth. They will lie and cheat and steal as needed to collect from you. File a complaint with the FTC online. Go to BudHibbs.com and learn about these thieves and liars, and the collection and debt buying industry in general. Very informative.
