Bad mistake talking to them If you indeed have an attorney then tell him/her to send a cease communications letter These lowlifes buy old out of the SOL debts and try to re-age in order to collect monies Been there done that I am sure you will get more advice and a "positive" response from some dead beat debt collector who will say "pay your debts" Good luck and keep us posted

"I called Asset Acceptance immediately because the form letter said if you didn't then it was automatically accepting the debt and they would persue it." Your first mistake was talking to them on the phone. Not calling them does NOT mean that you "accept" the debt. . 2nd. The debt, even if it does exist, is probably past the statute of limitations. "The lady on the other end said she'd send me out a form that I could file a faudulant claim with then. That's not going to happen, they will send you nothing. You're lawyer should be able to send them a letter demanding debt validation, but, in all honesty, you could have done this yourself They do not have valid information and they cannot sue you for a SOL debt.
