I am writing this to file a complaint about ATA air line cancel their thanksgiving holiday flight to or from Boston.

They promoted the tickets one month ago for the holiday season. The 3 weeks after, the decide to cancel the flight. As a consumer, we paid our full price in advance and then end up paying much hight price for our planed holiday travel.

ATA collected cash in advance and refuse to arrange the flights for the passager brought the tickets. Their reason is the ticket we brought is not the good enough to be protected by their suddenly change of mind.

They did offer two options for people like us, who they think we did not pay enought, refund of the original price, which is not help since the price went up for every airline. Or to keep it as a credit for a year, which is out of questions, since the KEY here for us is to travel for the holiday. If they call those two options an option, they are cheating!

They cheated our holiday money by sell those tickets and then turn around cancel the flights. This is not a any flight, it is holiday flight!!! I bet they needed the cash at the time to make up some revenue miracle, then the just do not want to keep their contract with their customers.

HOW COULD THEY DO THIS?

Canceling holiday flight is very irresponsible, most of us are looking for the best price to travel so we paid the ticket two months earlier, we are planing our holiday very carefully since we are not rich enough to buy the business class. The cancellation created a lot of trouble for us. We already booked other things for our trip, we are very specific for our travle now. ATA can not just cancel the flight and walk away for the trouble they created.

As consumer, we demand good customer serivce from the airline industry. As we all know the industry is under a lot of trouble, but not taking care of customer just can not be the result of those.

How could people chose to travle with airline, and how could people ever going to trust those airlines?

ATA need to be responsible for the holiday season. WE ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO SEEING OUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS . ATA can not take that away from us. WHY DID THEY DECIDE TO CANCEL THE HOLIDAY FLIGHT, CANN'S THEY JUST WAIT AFTER? We need them to take care of their services!

One of the many reasons an airline cancels a flight is financial. If the airline doesn't make enough off ticket sales to pay for the fuel, and other ammenities required to make the flight, they will cancel it. This is called "business". If it is going to cost you $1000 to drive all of your buddies somewhere and they say they will cover all of the expenses, you'll do it. If you find out the trip will cost more, and they say they won't cover the shortage, you will cancel the trip...simple as that. The airline is doing what's right by offering you a refund or a credit. They are not required, or responsible, for anything beyond that. You have not been ripped off in any way. It is not the airline's responsibility to make sure you have a nice holiday in Boston. If you bought the tickets through a discounter like Expedia or Priceline, you may get some consolation through them. It will probably cost you more, but that is how the ball bounces, as my Dad used to say.
