Complaint Review: ATA KARATE - ALPHARETTA GEORGIA on HOLCOMB BRIDGE - MR ROMAN - Alpharetta Georgia

I want to share my bad experience with this school.

If I could leave this school NO STARS at all, I would. They don't deserve it. I do not recommend this school to anyone. Simply put, they are first class scammers.

Last year, my sister wanted to be a good aunt and gift my two children (ages 6 and 3 back then) with karate lessons. At the time, I thought it was an excellent idea and I encouraged the thought. In August 2017, I took the kids to see the school.

I had some concerns that I wanted to address before I committed to something that could potentially be a burden for my sister, my kids and myself. One of the concerns I had was that I wanted to make sure is that I would be able to stop bringing the kids in at any time. I needed to know this because both of my kids are in show business, often times they are traveling out of state for filming. It would make no sense to be bound to such responsibilities. I asked Mr Roman if we would be able to have attendance flexibility as well as being able to pause or end our membership at any point. He reassured me that there were no strings attached and that I would be to stop at any moment. Having been assured that I would have flexibility I decided to enroll the kids. Fast forward to January 2018. One of my kids needed to go to Florida for filming. Before leaving, I personally went to speak to Mr Roman to let him know we would be out of town. I wanted to make sure that our membership would be put on hold before leaving. It would not make any sense to pay for something that we are not using. We talked and he told me that the membership would be put on hold until the kids came back, that my sister wouldn't get charged for their classes any more. I had no reason to distrust Mr. Roman. I trusted in his word and I left with my mind assured and in peace thinking that this wouldn't be a problem.

Boy, was I wrong.

There were many subsequent charges after that. The following month I called back to ask why were the charges continuing to be billed. I was told by Mrs Roman that we had to come in to sign some documents. Well, before I left I told them why wasn't I told about these papers then? I would have gladly signed the papers to avoid any misunderstandings, issues or consequences. I couldn't leave Florida to come sign some papers. That didn't make any sense.

My sister went to the school to ask for said documents/papers and she was told that no such documents existed. Now, these people are making me look like an irresponsible person and a liar in front of my sister. Now I am mad!

It's now August 2018, and my sister has been billed $150 for 8 months. My kids and I returned from filming in Florida in July 2018. Every time we call we get a run around.

I have called the place Superior Credit in Little Rock, Arkansas who does their billing and they couldn't help me either.

BEWARE: DO NOT BRING YOUR KIDS HERE, DO NOT SIGN ANY CONTRACTS.

It's a forceful dictatorship. They are thieves and they will tell you anything you want to hear to get what they want. They only want your money. Those are most certainly not the morals or the grounds any martial arts branch was built on. These people are nothing but petty scammy cars salesmen that happen to know karate. They have no ethics or morals.
