I have to agree with the part where they are stealing sessions.
My first session with a trainer involved him not doing any type of physical training or anything associated with my goals at the gym. He didnt even write me up any type of exercise routine. Then after a half hour he basically tells me the session is over and I got a little upset because I told him we didnt even get to lift any weights or consult in the gym to see what my capabilities in the gym were. So after a little back and forth he logged in to his sales portal and said he was looking to see if I had any more training credits left so he could spend more time with me. I got upset and told him thats totally rediculous because we didnt even do anything but look at his sparkpeople profile. I told him I didnt come to get trained to used a myspace like system to keep in touch with my clients, because I dont have any clients. lol
He told me he was upset as well, began blaming custom built training and was telling me how they just recently bought up all the clients in the area from the gym that I go to and that they have given none of the trainers any type of formal training on how to consult with clients. I told him just because theres no ownership doesnt mean he should forget how to be a personal trainer, supposedly for many years already and it should come natural to him by now. He totally agreed and said he would give me a free session to straighten this out, even tho he just spent 45 minutes talking to me.
I told him that hes not giving me a free session just because hes not getting paid on the next visit, "You've already taken my session credit, you've been paid and I still have not received any type of training from you other then how to use Sparkpeople.com, your doing this because I just paid you and you still haven't done any work. Think of it as a down payment for the work your gonna be doing."
Anyways he said he would call me back later after he had lunch to schedule a visit for tomorrow, well tomorrow comes around and I run into him at the gym, guess what, he says hello and quickly leaves the room Im in. He did this again 2 days later.
At this point I dont even want the guy to be training me, I'd like to get a session with somebody who knows what they are doing. He literally told me "I don't know how to do this because the new management hasn't trained me yet". Have any of you ever let a mechanic work on your car after he told you he doesn't know how to work on cars?
Something else i'd like to ad, After logging in to my custom built account portal I see that I have a 1 hour fitness consultation, I didnt know anything about that, nobody told me anything about that however I do think thats something everyone should do for their first session with the company. However Im thinking the trainers dont get paid for that or dont get paid as much so they deliberately arent telling clients about the consultation to get paid. Remember I signed up for one 30 min session per month, so the consultation is free to me and obviously the trainers do not get paid for that.
Also I would like to ad something I think the about the trainers, I think the trainers are not directly employed with CustomBuilt, this guy kept telling me he doesnt get paid unless I sign in and if people cancel on him he gets upset because less money for the day. I think they are contractors. Thats why he was trying to go after any more sessions credits I may have had.

Hello, I am also a former employee with Beyond fitness from Las Vegas, NV. and know Dan Fahey, Steve Dow and Matt Yellon.. I was in a management position in charge of dealing with "customer service" issues regarding billing and cancellations and ended up quitting because of it. Everything these people have said is true I personally dealt with countless people who's credit was ruined and worse because of this company not letting anyone out of contracts even for ligit reasons. I would be on the phone for 8-9 hours a day with people crying & screaming at me because they kept getting billed after following instructions given and paying a fee to cancel.. not to mention the people who complained about not receiving training sessions and getting the run around from everyone in the company. Whatever you do please stay away from this company or any other spin off company they have started!

Considering the Nature of the industry itself, one would think that background checks are done across the board. But to no avail that isn't the case! As a former employee in their corporate office I have first hand experience the deviant behavior that is not only permissible in the field but in the corporate environment as well. I worked closely with one Mr. Petr Arnold and found not only his outburst disgusting but the fact that he had a extremely bad case of the touchie/feelies! He looked like a crack addict to tell you the truth but I am not going to be judgmental in my response... only stating the FACTS! I attempted to go to another member in the office about what my experience was with this particular individual and found that they were open to discussing it. After taking that shared information back to Senior Management... nothing was done about the situation. So I quit! I currently have a claim filed with the EEOC and the Attorney General's office and am awaiting the return of those results. I found it hard to believe that after this information was brought to the attention to the "powers that be" it was all swept under the rug!!! I am not upset though because after learning more about the many complaints from club clients I saw that it was best for me to leave and explore more viable opportunities. This company should be shut done and should not be allowed to exist! If you are operating as a corporate entity or even as a private one you MUST have some standards that are enforced! Nothing was done about it so I had to do what was best for me. If you ever run across the name Custom Built, Atlanta Fitness or any other entity that displays the name of "Personal Trainers".... Run Like Hell!!! and most importantly keep your young children away from any place where they do business! 2 Tell The Truth!
