Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
On April 29, 2011, some girl had knocked on the door to sell some magazines in order to help her get money for school. I thought we would be nice and try and help her out.

We were told that she was a few points shy of getting it and it was boys against girls. She also mentioned that if any boys try to come to the house shoo them away because the girls will beat them.

She was excited because she was going to be getting triple the points if we buy the magazines becuse the points went based on the occupations that we are in. I figured that wasn't bad, let's give her the last points she needs and there were a few magazines that I needed to get and renew.

Well we let her into our home and she acted like she knew us for years and tried to chum up to us. Even asking if we could adopt her because we seem like some cool people.

She came into the house so I can write out a check for the magazines which came up to $109, which I didn't know how with only ordering 3 magazines. She said she couldn't explain why it was so much.

After she left is when it came to mind that some things did not add up. I figured I would wait to see when the check would be cashed.

May 6, 2011 is when the check was finally cashed. So I figured after a few weeks from then we would receive our magazines. May 30th came around and I received a letter from one of the magazines saying that they did not receive a payment from me in order to receive these magazines. And to please contact the agency with whom you paid.

That day I called them and they stated that the check was just cashed and they would be sending money to the two magazines that I had purchased. And I said that doesn't make sense because I purchased 3 magazines for $109. She put me on hold to speak to a manager.

When she came back on the phone she said ok you are suppose to get the third one free. Which I was confused why 2 magazine subscriptions would cost $109. I asked them when I would start to get the magazines to my house and they said sometime in July.

Well as you can see it is now August 7, 2011 and still no magazines or notifications or phone calls from this company.

I got another letter from the same magazine on July 25th the same thing as the past letter in May. I am quite upset and pissed off with this company. Especially because I contacted them through the phone and still nothing came out of it.

I would like my money back or my magazines delievered. I believe it definitely was a waste of money. I could have used that money for something else, but instead I thought I was helping some college girl in her first year.

I would like to see something done about this because I know I am not the only one out there that had this happen to.

I am happy to state that I did receive my refund, in full. I highly recommend contacting Jenny directly using the phone number and extension I provided in my comment above. She was very helpful and my refund arrived within a week of contacting her.

Had same problem -- possibly resolved now.

#3Consumer Suggestion

I was also a victim of this same exact scenario. My order was placed on Feb 25, 2011 and as of today (6 months later) I still have not received a single issue for either of the magazines I ordered. I finally got through to their customer service department this morning at 717-755-3480, even though it took many calls just to get a "live" person. Luckily I still had my original receipts.

I spoke with a girl named Jenny at extension 1102 who apologized for the delay and stated that my magazines were delayed, but would begin arriving in September, 2011. I reminded her that the receipt clearly states, in red print, that I would receive my first issue within 120 days of my order. That should have been back in June!

At that point, she offered to extend each subscription for a full year (at no cost to me) but I politely declined and requested a full refund. She agreed and assured me that I will receive ALL my money back, via corporate check from Atlantic Circulation, within 7-21 business days.

I'll update this report IF/WHEN I actually get the check (and it clears)!
