I'm having a serious problem with Atlantic Magazine Services of Deerfield Beach, also known as CRC. In December of 2002, I was called by one of their representatives and they said I was selected to be inserted into a lottery for a free vacation to Florida. All they needed was my social security no., my address, visa card, and phone number. What did I do? I gave it to them because they sounded very reassuring. After I gave them that information, they mentioned (for the first time), that I'd have to buy magazines from them at 50 dollars a month. After I heard that, I changed my mind and went through the cancellation process with them. They promised they would get rid of my information. About one year later in January of 2004, they called back and threatened to ruin my credit if I didn't buy magazines from them. I argued that I went through a cancellation process but they countered that by saying, "If the people here got rid of your information, then why is it still at my desk?" Then, they repeated my information to me, which mentioned that I officially joined in April of 2003 and repeated my credit card number to me. However, I complained that the card no. they gave me was cancelled as of January 2003. So why would I give a company the number of my old credit card, which I lost in January of 2003, in April of 2003? Since they had my information, I had no choice but to join a few weeks ago or else they would ruin my credit. If this isn't blackmail, I don't know what is.
