Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I was paying close to $100.00 per month for local cable and Internet service alone, and wanted something cheaper. I saw a television advertisemenet where AT&T Bellsouth had a "Triple Choice" plan for $99.00/month and decided to go with them in March 2007. Triple Choice included DSL, Direct TV, and home telephone service. The Rep told me that the bills would fluctuate for a couple of months and then level out to the low cost as advertised.

Now that its leveled out, the telephone bill alone is $102.00 per month, plus taxes. That's over $1200.00 a year for their telephone service alone!

Direct TV is separate, with a billing of $59.97/month. There's a $10.00/month discount off the bill for the first ten months, but $4.99/month is added for each television receiver (three sets). If you neglect to mail back the rebate coupon in the alloted time frame you don't get to take advantage of the rebate. Fortunately I didn't neglect to do that.

I asked AT&T Bellsouth for their cheapest DSL which is twenty-something dollars per month and ended up with the $40.00/month plan.

I telephoned them for an explanation and was told that if I switched to their Triple Choice plan, what they advertised and what I thought I was getting in the first place (3 for $99.00/month), I'd be paying more than I presently am. If I changed any of the services that I presently have to something cheaper, I'd have a prorated bill which will be more than the present billing. And if I broke the contract I'd get one large bill, which is calculated based on the remainder of months left in the contract.

They further told me that if I looked at it, it all amounts to less than $200.00/month, which they think is really good! And if I added my cell phone to the package I'd pay $10.00 lesser per month and "save" even more money!

To make their "Plans" seem more appealing, they initially offer cash back rebates. But its not until the dust settles that you discover that they're actually raping your wallet on a monthly basis.

AT&T Bellsouth are overcharging rather than delivering what they promised to begin with, and want to penalize me if I decide to drop them! Now I'm trying to figure out in dollars and cents which would be the cheaper route.

Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated!

Go with another company for your services

Carolyn, I used to work for this company before AT&T bought them out, but it still seems that they are using the same deceiving tactics to get your money. They main goal is to sell their so called "bundled services" and make you believe that everything will be less costly if you combine all your servics with them, but you just pay more in the end. What they did to you sounded like a typical sale of their 2nd tier DSL service at a promotional price along with their most expensive DTV service(again at promotional price) these two are the icing on the cake for them cause they just sneak in their most expensive phone package without you even noticing( this way they knock out their numbers for voice mail, protction plan, etc on just 1 call) Then when you get your bill they charge for the modem, 1 month of service( this is for all the services). Then when you call you find out that there is a 1 year obligation for the dsl and dtv, plus they try to sell you even more services and you probably just passed on your timeframe to cancel. Go with anyone else but AT&T trust me you'll be a whole heck of a lot happier.
