I have an amazing .06 cents a min long distance plan with at&t wireless, but with cingular it would be .20 cents or more. i cant change my phone, and they cant help at all.

It is so ridiculous. they are forcing practically forcing you to migrate or be stuck with a crap phone. ebay is the best bet for replacing it, but you never know if it will work in your area for sure.

I dont see why AT&T didnt have a liquidiation of their phones for their original customers/plans.

I will not! migrate to cingular.

Ok I dont know if you really work for cingular or not but its NOT a USB cable its a data cable. Also one program DOES NOT unlock all phones for all carriers!! (For example I would love to see you unlock a nextel phone for cingular) Natalie like I said before either go back to the store and ask them to explain the plans again or call customer service. Your only complaint seemed to be about the long distance and they dont charge for that anymore (I dont know of any carrier that does EXCEPT nextel and that's only on certian plans that nobody in there right mind picks) Also you might be able to get a free phone from cingular's customer service line (even if the main store told you you cant)customer service can do more as far as price than a main store or an authorized agent can. Good luck

if you have a gsm phone, (which has a sim card) all you have to do is find another gsm phone, preferably an at&t phone, but if not a cingular ot t-mobile phone will do also. if your sim card does not work in it, all you have to do is unlock it to use it. nokia phones are the easiest to unlock, you can get free software to unlock it online. my friend has at&t and got a new cingular samsung e317 from another friend and bought a usb cable and software on ebay to unlock this phone and it has worked fine. most motorola & samsung phones need a cable to be unlocked. also, go to one of those cell phone dealers that sell all brands of service (verizon, nextel, alltel, t-mobile, cingular) they usually can help with unlocking a phone or can help you get an unlocked phone. i am a cingular dealer and i can unlock pretty much any gsm nokia in about 2 minutes! (most can, they just can't advertise that they unlock phones, cingular wants more of your money and wants you to buy their phone & their plan) ask me any questions, i will try to help!!!!

Just because you have the phone doesnt mean that you will be able to use it. If you dont have a chip in your phone and you buy one that requires a chip (sim card) chances are you wont be able to find one as all Cingular/At&t stores are prohibited from selling ANYTHING At&t. That's one problem.. second problem if your phone doesnt have a chip in it and you find one that doesnt take a chip you will need to do what is called an IMEI swap. At&t will most likely tell you that they cant do it or in some way mess it up so that neither phone works. If your phone has a chip in it and you find another that takes a chip then you MIGHT be able to simply change the chip from one phone to another. As far as .20 cents a min long distance you are wrong. They do not charge for long distance. It will take off of your minutes if you use it during the day but it WILL NOT charge extra. I should know I work for cingular. If long distance is your only concern you I dont see your problem. You could go from paying for long distance to not paying anything. Go back to the store and let them know that they confused you and ask if somebody could walk you through the plans etc. I'm sure they'd be happy to help.
