After being laid off from my job and losing my home, I had to move out of Michigan to my daughter's in Virginia. I kept my Go Phone (which I have had for 5 years) active because I had family and unfinished business in Michigan. My phone was set up on auto debit from my checking account ($55 per mo for 300 minutes).

After 5 months, I called to have the phone turned off because my unemployment had run out and at 61, I hadn't found work and can use the $286 in credit I have. I spoke to 2 representatives, a supervisor and their loss mitigation specialist(my title, their name for her was different).

All REFUSED to refund any of my money as it's in the fine print when you get the phone. Their only solution was to pay an additional $25 every 3 months at a higher rate of 25 cents a minute and use up the huge balance. Which I did rather than gaive them all that money for nothing.

During the call with the loss mitigation supervisor there were people laughing, talking and a loud noise as if something had fallen and she was talking to those people. I was so disgusted I told the woman she obviously didn't care about my problem, have a great day and that I would blog everywhere I could to warn people about this and hung up.

I requested an address or email so I could write my complaint to a corporate person and was told they could not/would not give me any address, but I could email from the website. After 10 minutes of trying to email, I gave up. The link just returns you to a log in screen and you never get to an email.

This was an expensive lesson. My advice is, do not use AT&T. This huge corporation makes billions and refuses to refund $280 to someone who was a good customer for many years (even before wireless). One more example of corporate greed!

You aren't entitled to a refund

No phone company offers refunds for prepaid amounts. None. Sell it on Ebay if you need money.
