I made a trip to Mexico. Before I left, I contacted AT&T and spoke with a representative who altered my calling plan so that I wouldn't incur charges on calls made to the US. When I returned, my AT&T bill was outrageous. I thought it would be an easy fix. After all, I had made the necessary changes before I left.
I spoke with a manager who said that nothing could be done since their notes indicated that I was planning on making calls TO Mexico, instead of FROM Mexico. This makes no sense as my original plan already covered interational calls. Plus, my bill was proof that I hadn't made any calls to Mexico. It was obviously a mistake on AT&T's behalf. A $300 mistake that I was being charged for.
They refuse to correct it. I am unable to get past the standard form emails, letters and conversations. I am also unable to obtain any information needed to contact a higher authority.
I am prepared to do and pay what is necessary to invoke legal action. Having never been involved in such an issue, I am unsure of the steps to take. I am requesting any advice or information that you may have about taking this to the next level. Again, I would like to pursue this issue regardless of the cost. If resolved, I will update this message with the steps that were taken and the people that were contacted in hopes that it may help others.
