AT&T WIRELESS Rip-off! HOW I BEAT AT&T WIRELESS. INTERNET
Fellow Consumers:
This is how to beat these corporate giants at their own game!!! This is what I did:
1. I contacted (through web site) the Seceratary of State's Office of my home state, (Mass.) and got the name of the Corporate Officer for AT&T in my state.
2. I sent him a certified letter of intent to sue for my deposit, as well as termination fees back in small claims court. (total was $750.00)
3. He had (by law) 30 days to respond, which he did not.
4. I went to the local court, and filed (at a cost of $19.00) a suit against him as corporate officer of AT&T, in small claims, for the amount of $750.00 + $19.00, + $125.00 (lost day's work).
Within 10 days I got a letter from an Attorney in Boston stating the following:
If I would drop the suit, that AT&T would return to me the 750.00, AND pay the court filing fee. I had him send a notorized letter of agreement, and I dropped the case. He then sent me a check for the amount, and I switched phone companies.
I would estimate that this took me approximately 2 hours of work. Considering that AT&T had NO intention of returning MY money, not a bad day's pay!! As far as them posting on my credit report, well frankly, at this point every Tom, d**k and A-hole can post crap on your report (and does), so I guess viewers will have to get use to seeing this stuff on our reports. It is after all, the world THEY created. So, in closing, spend a couple of hours work, let AT&T spend a fortune defending themselves all over the country in small claims, and bring these giants down to earth.
