After getting several promotional pieces in the mail from ATT, I applied for one of their great specials to get UVerse and internet service.  Much to my suprise they declined to give me service unless I put down a substantial deposit based on a credit check.  I have a credit score (FICO) of 740, which is very good and noone in their right mind would turn down business for a credit score that high.  I actually run a retail business and we set our credit requirements pretty high with a cut of of 650.  Apparently ATT is doing misleading advertising as almost noone will qualify for their special deals and they use that to sell you on something else or to get a big deposit out of you.  What a ripoff.

You tried to get UVerse and were declined unless you provided a deposit.  Except for a bruised ego what did you loose?  Nothing.

What would you do if someone complains about your business when you decline them for credit because they had a 645 credit score instead of a 650?  I guess you will think it is justified because that is what YOU set as your minimum requirements.  So why can't AT&T set their terms to what ever they want without you screaming RipOff?

When a realtor advertises a house and the perspective buyer's credit is declined is that false advertising?
No.

When an auto dealer advertises a car and the perspective buyer's credit is declined is that false advertising? No.

When a communications company advertises TV and internet service and the perspective buyer's credit is declined is that false advertising?
No.

Did you spend any money for the service? No; therefore you were not ripped off.

Your report does not support your claim of false advertising and is not a rip off.
