ATtechs AT Techs Laptop Repair, DC Jack repair, computer hardware repair alexandria, Virginia
I found an on on craigslist regarding laptop dc jack rapair. I contacted ATtechs regarding my laptop issue and was told to come by the shop to drop off my laptop. I got there around 6pm on a Sunday afternoon (keep that in mind as you read).
We talked for a while about my laptop and the issue I was having. I told the technician that I was having a problem with charging the laptop. He did a little test by wiggling a power adapter in the dc jack and very confidently told me that it IS the dc jack because the light indicator was coming on and off. I trusted his professional judgement.
He told me that it would usually take a few hours to fix the problem since he had the replacement part on hand, but that I could pick it up later in the night if I am in the area. After about 4 hours, I called him to see if I should come pick up my laptop and he told me to be there in 20 mins or so. I arrive approximately 20 mins later only to be told that he actually doesnt have the replacement part and would have to order it. He told me that the repair would now take 4 business days.
Four days later, I call him to get my laptop but didnt get him and left a message. This would become a pattern for the next 3 days. On Sunday, I decided to have someone call from a different number to see if he would answer. HE DID. He even arranged to meet with that person. I haad the person set a time of 6pm. I call him a few minutes later and no answer. I called again, blocked number this time and he answers.
He give me stories of being in a accident and having to attend personal matters in Morocco and that he would return Monday and I could get my laptop then. I asked if it was ready and he said yes. At this point, I'm boiling with anger so I told him "I need my laptop TODAY." I was in his company parking lot at this time since i knew he was on his way there to meet with my friend. My friend texted me letting me know that he told her he was in the office.
I walked up to his office and the shock on his face was priceless. I demanded my laptop (which was taken apart and laying all over his desk). He demanded that I leave his office and that he would have me arrested for trespassing since he doesn't operate on Sundays (remember, I dropped it off on a Sunday). After him trying to talk over the situation and not wanted to give me my laptop, I called the police. The police arrived only to be given the same bs he was giving me. I was told that since it was no criminal act being committed, they couldn't do anything. They told him to have my laptop ready by 10am the next morning.
I showed at the next office with a more leveled head and we agreed to let him fix it. He told me he had everything and could fix it in 2 days. I figured that since I went through all this trouble I might as well finish it. 4 weeks later of back and forth bs, my laptop still couldn't be fixed. He told me that the dc jack wasnt the problem after all.
