MyView.com works with other companies to take your information, ask you questions related to services or products, and then reimburse you for your time "If you qualify".
For example, a member of kongregate.com would like to purchase virtual credits to be used while playing games on their site. For 10 credits, you must complete a survey on MyView.com. You are transferred to their website and they begin by asking you general information such as:
Your age
Income
Location (Zip code, State)
Your household size
Children's ages (if applicable)
and more...
In order to see if you "qualify" for a survey, they give you a survey!
For example, the last attempt I made to complete a survey, they asked me the following:
* Have you tried any of these products in the last 30 days? Followed by a long list of product names such as quaker oats, oat squares, other breakfast products...
* Have you eaten at any of the following restaurants in the last 30 days? Followed by a list of major fast food restaurants, as well as another section asking for in the last 7 days, and if this is your favorite restaurant.
There were over 10 minutes worth of questions such as these, none of them related to other questions. By this, I mean, they were not all related to fast food, for example. If they had been, I may have considered that they were trying to qualify me for a fast food survey, but these were all over the board.
In the end, of course, I did not qualify for a survey, and therefor they were not obligated to pay for my time, meaning I did not get my kongregate.com kreds.
If this had been a one time issue, perhaps I would let it go as just that, but it is not. This happens almost every time I have tried to qualify with very few exceptions. Even if it were just limited to me, perhaps I could see some kind of explanation, but hundreds of people, just in one game, complain that they also do not ever qualify and have not gotten their "kreds".
Here is why I believe this is such a serious issue.
Information is valuable. The qualifying survey IS A survey. You are giving them everything but your first and last name, which they do not need anyhow. They now have information that Mr. X from City/State prefers Taco Bell over McDonalds, while his 13 year old daughter prefers to eat quaker oats versus the other brand. This is information this company can, and almost certainly DOES sell to companies. They are making money by giving you a survey and then disqualifying you towards ANOTHER survey, thereby not paying you.
This is a blatant ripoff and needs to be addressed! Please, if you, or anyone you know has been through the same situation with this company (one of many who do this), reply and add your name to the complaint. Something needs to be done.
